Bridesmaids dresses - where to shop?

Recommended Posts

I've heard of a bunch of brides getting their bridesmaid dresses from J. Crew, but they're pretty expensive. - http://www.jcrew.com/wedding/Wedding_Bridesmaid/dresses.jsp  Another option is ModCloth (I work there and we sell to a lot of wedding parties) - http://www.modcloth.com/store/ModCloth/Womens/Dresses/Party?page=1 but you have to mobilize fast - we only carry a few of each item, so things can sell out quickly.

Beachy doesn't have to mean blue and pink.  It's your wedding, and you can put a beachy spin on whatever color combo you like best...just be imaginative, and don't be afraid to spray paint!  Black glossy seashells or driftwood and ivory candles?  Yes please!

I am wearing a Jcrew dress for my friends upcoming wedding (i'm MOH) and it was $300 with shipping/taxes/duty etc.  I thought that was a little much!  It's a cute enough dress but its chocolate brown, not something you can really wear again without looking like you are part of a bridal party!

I love that yellow dress - so pretty! (and great price)!

As for the black dress debate, as it was mentioned before, I don't think they would be hot as long as it's a lighter fabric like chiffon, not satin or anything too heavy. You can also 'beach' it up a lot by adding colorful accessories! Black dresses with tropical, vibrant bouquets and/or heels looks classy, yet beachy :) bottom line, go for what YOU want to do - after all, it's your day!

I am still trying to find my BM dresses - I want short, chiffon, and coral....found a great one @ J. Crew, but it's a bit pricier...

These dresses are cute! What kind of pink was it? I'm looking for something similar in hot pink.
If you look behind the mannequin in the pic you can see a glimpse of the pink, I'll try to post a picture of the dress in pink. It's fuchsia colored so maybe not as bright as you are looking for but might work?

You're so creative!! Any more great ideas? :) I love all of these suggestions, tropical flowers and accessories or a few DIY projects will definitely make it work!! I have lots of time to think about it and with all the summer clothes out now will have lots to choose from. I need to see lots of pics I think so I can visualize the different colors and the black dresses against the tropical setting.

Thanks Beachbum!  I've been playing around on Polyvore the last couple of days and I created a couple of inspiration boards that you might be interested in - one is green and black, but you could easily use white instead of green to get the black and white look you were talking about.

Take a look: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/profile?id=2534523

I'd be happy to create a unique one for you if you give me some parameters - it might inspire you and will help me build up the number of boards I have!

I'm happy to create a special one for you if you give me some parameters - it would help me build out my number of boards and hopefully would inspire you!
