February 2012 Brides!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Congrats on picking your dresses girls! I ordered mine a few weeks ago it should come in September I can't wait! I actually went with a bridesmaids dress instead of a wedding gown I just wanted something very simple. It is a Sophia Tolli BY11184. I can't wait for it to come in so I can see what it looks like in white! When I tried it on it was a green/purple colour. I will post pics when it comes in!

Congrats Luvmoo on the weight lost!!!

Congrats Ladies!

How exciting! I know how it was when I bought my dress. The whole time leading up to shopping I was completely DREADING it! I was working out and had lost some weight, but not enough to make me comfortable trying on a "one size fits all" sample dress. All in all, I realized that not many people actually DO fit those, and the ladies (most of them) were super sweet! I ended up going to about 4 stores. I picked a top 2 at each and then narrowed down from there. I just went with my mom, and we have VERY different opinions about style/fit, so I was worried we might butt heads. But she came through and we actually had a lot of fun with it! I have had my dress now for a year since we were actually supposed to be getting married LAST Aug, but we changed gears 3 months before.

I haven't tried on my dress since last summer, and I'm afraid to do so since I'm about 10 lbs heavier than I was last year. I also am working my butt off trying to get into shape! Its amazing sometimes how SLOW the process can be. I have been going hard at it for about 3 weeks now and am down about 8 lbs. I would like to lose at least another 25-30 lbs. I am really short (4'11) and those extra lbs REALLY show on me. I'm one of those people that if I even THINK or LOOK at bad food I gain 5 lbs. And to think crunch time will be right during the holiday madness! I might do a round of HCG a month or so before the wedding to help get that final push...I have done it a few times before, and have lost about 15+ lbs in a month. I started a thread back in Jan about it. You can read it here!

The only thing that has worked well for me is cutting out the sugar and carbs (grains). So I mainly eat A LOT of salads, and grilled meat and veggies. Just from doing this I am about 25 lbs down from my heaviest weight. I try and either go for a walk/jog or hit the gym at least 5x/week. Now that the weather is nice, the FI and I try and go on a hike on the weekends. My weight loss is a lot slower than in the past, but this is the first time I have really incorporated weight training. I just have to keep telling myself that if the scale isn't going down, the inches MUST be! A huge inspiration and motivator is Sugar Free Sheila! I love this girl, and she has had AMAZING mind blowing results that have lasted 10 years! Check her out...this girl rocks!

Good luck with all your weight loss ventures ladies! Lets help keep each other going!

aww thanks! :) I think it's gorgeous too..and something different which is what I wanted. I wasn't crazy about having a strapless dress yet it seems like 90% of dresses out there are strapless so I was thrilled when I tried the Allure on & it looked so amazing! I wouldn't have chosen it to try on however the consultant pulled it for me & I'm ever thankful to her for her suggestion :)

I tried googling yours & couldn't fine it although I did look at some of the Pronovias gowns & they are stunning so I'm sure yours will be as stunning, if not more!!!

I feel the same about hot yoga in that I feel great & my skin feels amazingl too! I can't wait to go to another class this week. I'm going to the Moksha here in Wpg! They have a 1st time trial for $40 for one month unlimited so I plan on going as often as I can.

As for shoes..I LOVE shoes too hence why I keep going back & forth about heels versus flip flops. If I find the 'perfect' flip flop I'll be happy though as it is a DW and I want to keep it somewhat casual. The one thing I do NOT want is for people to hear the sound that flip flops make upon me walking down the 'isle'! lol We're getting married in the gazebo so the walk is on cement.

Have you been looking for sandals? If so, where?

BTW, I saw your OOT bags on another discussion & OMG they are unreal!!!! I haven't even started on mine :( lol

Mine is basically a sweetheart version of pronovias galante, it is a special collection by pronovias but I will post a picture when I get it.  It sort of looks like "fresa" but not quite the exact same.  At least gives you an idea.  I originally expected to do the flowy beachy destination wedding dress but definitely didn't like how they fit me either!!!!

I am so glad to hear someone else is doing hot yoga, we are doing moksha and love it.  It is so great to sweat it all out and my skin feels amazing!!!!

I am a shoe whore for lack of a better word so the idea of giving up beautiful heels is really hard for me to take! I am going to go barefoot for the ceremony (on the beach) and am on the hunt for the perfect navy shoe to wear for dinner and the reception.  I considered doing a flat sandal like a gladiator style or something but I don't know.  Plans may change but for now I am set on having my shoes!!!

What are your plans?!

krsmith - you must weigh NOTHING now with all that exercise!!!!!  It is so hard because as a kid I was "skinny" and VERY active with soccer and dance I think I maybe had 1 day off a week if that so weight gain and watching what I eat was never an issue.  I never realized how spoiled I was until my metabolism slowed down as did my activity level and now I actually have to WORK HARD to keep my weight in check.  15 lbs would make me HAPPY, I will settle for 10 lol

Fired up B2B - I will attach a picture of Galante below, not my dress but similar, mine is strapless sweetheart and there are so other differences but it gives you an idea!

I did the same thing to start of Moksha and it was great, I just yesterday bought my 2 months for $199 (also a great deal, not as good as the $40) ohhhh and Wagjag has a 10 pass for $39 right now but it expires today, check it out as it is a good deal too!!!!

I think I will stay away from flip flops for that "flip flop" sound exactly and go with more of a sandal with a strap if I do end up going with those.  I have looked online and when I was in the states at Marshalls and TJ maxx they had TONS of sandals like I was looking for.  I am actually kicking myself for not picking up the shoes for my BMs because I saw the Steve Madden Sandals I was looking for!!!!!

I'm glad you like my OOTs, I am way ahead of schedule but it is nice to have those crossed off my list.  Now we are just afraid more people are going to come than expected lol!

Wanted to share some of my latest DIY project, The first hanger is for my best friend who is getting married on the 23rd of this month.  I will be giving it to her at her surprise bachelorette/shower and really hope she likes it!!!!  The second is my first attempt at my own hanger... and the last picture is my shell pomander, I will have 10 of these lining my aisle on the sheppard hooks I picked up from where else... DOLLARAMA!!!!! We were originally going to do flower or tissue pomanders but my mom found these and I fell in LOVE! They are so unique and I love that they are different!

Beautiful dress!!!!! Holy COW!

I was NEVER skinny! Even as a kid I was a tad on the chubby side...even with soccer and basketball. My first diet was Weight Watchers in 7th grade. Once I was out of school and on my own, that was when the weight came on...and SOOOOO easily! I am 4'11 and now with weeks of hard work, down about 9 lbs and still at 147.8. I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but on someone as short as me it REALLY is! According to BMI I am obese! As much as I would love to lose like 40 lbs, I know for my build and body type, that is not realistic...so I'd be happy with 125ish. I haven't been that in probably 10 years!

You have totally got it! 10-15 lbs in 7 months is TOTALLY doable! Its just the darn holiday season we have to watch ourselves on!
