Be honest with me...

Recommended Posts

I'm having a bit of freak out time lately. I'm 40 and this is my second wedding. It started with the dress. I shortened the train but now wish I would've cut the whole thing off. I kept it to help sell the dress but I feel kinda silly with a train. Then the veil..... Do I really need to wear a veil? I didn't the first time and it's elegant and pretty but will I look stupid? Bottom line... Feeling a little old to wear a wedding dress, have a train and wear a veil. Be honest girls..... What do you think about 40 year old brides and these things?

and get ready for the advice...

YOU ARE WORTH IT...get a dress that you love...WEAR THAT VEIL...don't even THINK about being 40..i'll be 40 in december and this is my 2nd wedding as well..but you know what...WHO CARES! this is the LAST man i'll marry therefore the LAST TIME i'll have the opportunity to wear a beautiful dress, and an equally beautiful veil on a beautiful beach...so DO YOU!  be happy with the gift of life and love that god has given you and STRUT the stuff your Mama gave you...be the beauty you are...

for all those naysayers and haters...tell them to take a hike and/or to kiss your ripe bootyshake.gif

i say, if you've got it and your groom loves it..WEAR IT..SHOW IT OFF and BE HAPPY in the moment!

happy planning!!!  msnwink.gif  R~

Go for it!  I think you will find that people will be happy for you and would want you to enjoy your day however you want to.  And think to yourself... you're going look beautiful in a wedding dress at 40!  (Some people could only wish that...)  ;)

i'm not quite 40 (though not far!) but it was my 2nd wedding as well.  and i wore a dress, had a train, and wore a veil ... cuz I WANTED TO!  that's all that matters, do what works for you.  if that's what you want, then do it, and i doubt anyone will even think twice.  and if they do, it's their issue, not yours.

It is your wedding day and you are allowed to do and wear whatever you wish, no matter what your age is.  If you want to chop the train off then do it! If you want to wear a veil then wear one, and if you dont then dont! Just do what makes you happy no matter how old you are!

It doesn't matter if you're 40 or 80..

Your wedding day is all about you and what makes you feel beautiful.

Wear what you want.  I was closer to 40 than I want to admit, but I wore the dress I wanted last fall for our wedding (but no veil because I thought they all looked wrong).  Hubby didn't want a suit/tie, so he didn't wear one, just a linen shirt/pants.  You have to do what you want... don't listen to naysayers.

Very good advice from all the ladies.  I had often wondered this myself.  I am 43, and this is my second marriage.  That is one reason we decided on a destination wedding to begin with.  I FINALLY found a dress that I love and I feel good in.  But I did beat myself up quite a bit about the color, train or no train, appropriate or not, etc... I felt "funny" doing this all over again, and at my age.  The only guests are going to be my parents and my 12 year old daughter.  I am not wearing a veil, just a flower in my hair.  I guess I should take my own advice, do what makes YOU happy - it is your day and you deserve to be happy!

Best of luck to you!!!
