Definitely use regular paper.  Cardstock will be too thick for the modpodge to penetrate to make it seal to the tile (hope that makes sense, lol). :)

 

Ladies, I also want to mention that hot glue didn't work very well to keep the magnets attached.  I tried a couple on my fridge after letting them dry for a few days and the tile fell right off the magnet.  I'm going to use a strong epoxy and see how that goes.
