Why does changing your name have to be so freakin difficult!!

O.k., so I started the name change process 2 weeks ago. Drivers license (check), Social Security card (check), Bank (check)....those were the easy ones.

I swear credit card companies act like they're the freakin god of gods. First off, I jumped through their hoops and faxed the marriage certificate along with a letter asking to change my name and issues new cards - just as they asked me to do. WELL I'm now getting letters in the mail asking me to send in the "legal" document reflecting the change, so they can finish their process.....HELLOhuh.gif?? That's what I already freakin did, you idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!! girl_werewolf.gif I swear they have the most imcompetent people working for customer service at credit card companies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Argh....I just needed to let that out!! So now I get to mail in what I already faxed once and waited and waited with nothing being done! fencing.gif

That sucks!! Oddly enough I had the most trouble w/ all my documents at work and w/ my insurance company. The credit card people didn't even make me fax anything! (I was REALLY surprised about that) They just asked a ton of questions and then sent out cards w/ my new name.

But yeah...the whole process is a HUGE PITA!

Seriously, it took me the better part of a year to get my insurance cards in my married name. I finally got that part sorted out about 2 weeks before our first anniversary! lol!

I feel your pain!

I have a funny story about this too --

I called to change my name on my credit card. They said fine, they did it, and they sent me a new card.

Well, they spelled my new name wrong! So I called and I was like you spelled my name wrong, you need to send me a new card.

They put me on hold like this is the most difficult thing ever (it was THEIR fault!) and come back and they're like, We have to file this as a lost or stolen card. We will send you a new one. I said, it's not lost or stolen, it's just WRONG. Whatever they have to file it this way for their purposes.

They put me on hold again and come back and ask, "Will you be filing a police report for yout stolen card?"

WTF?!? MY CARD WAS NOT STOLEN. I asked them what they wanted me to tell the police? "Hi I have to report a stolen credit card that isn't stolen, it just has my named spelled wrong because my credit card company is full of idiots?"

Ahhh I flipped my lid, it was so annoying. And I am usually NICE to customer service people, I swear.

That's so wierd Lisa. I have 4 credit cards and changed all of them over the phone in a total of about 10 minutes. I don't understand why they're giving you such a hard time!

I still have some things that I haven't gotten changed yet and need to get on...nursing license, car insurance, and home loan. Guess I better get on that.
