AHR wording options

I need help with my AHR invitations!  Here's the jist... we'll be married in DR in August (only a few were invited) and then we will have our AHR a few days later in our hometown.  The AHR will be held at a lounge where we will have food, drinks, dancing, and casino games (fake kind but with professional dealers).  The AHR will be more party-like but still somewhat formal. I'm having trouble due to the timing (we will be married but not at the time of the invites - sort of thing) and I want to capture the mood of the party without having to spell it out.  How should I word my invites?

Hi Evgal!

We are having our AHR only 1 week after we get back so we were in the same boat, we had to send out our invitations before we were married. It was really tough thinking of appropriate wording, but in the end we went with this:

Abby and Simon are getting married!

Please join them at their wedding reception

At Venue

On this date and at this time

Then I gave our website info.

Our AHR is going to be pretty formal though.

Pretty straight forward.  Any other options?  Would anybody consider adding something like "Join us for food, drinks, and casino-entertainment"?  I'm really not the creative kind so maybe I should stick with saying less.

  • 3 months later...

Most wording I have has been a little cheesy.  However I love this. May have to borrow :)

I did post card style invites (postcards.com) for AHR to go with the theme of DW. AHR will b three days after we get back so i had to send invites out before hand.

FRONT: Casey and Brian

Join the celebration

November 19,2011

BACK:

"Upon return from a caribbean ceremony the newlyweds would cherish a night of celebration with their family members and closest friends"

"The reception will commence Saturday the Nineteenth of November at six o'clock"

Then where you would normally put the address of the person u r sending post card to I listed the Venue name and address.

I added RSVP info, "adults only please" as well as "semi to formal attire"

I posted this because I had a really hard time coming up with mine and i hope this post helps a noob.

I will post a pic soon, they should be coming in the mail this week.

BTW I ordered personalized stamps that say Jamaica and the day we will be married.

I also ordered sand colored envelopes (envelopemall.com) that came in today and i LOOOOVE them

Happy planning!
