Hi mzthan6, when are you gettig married? We are using a chef called Gregory Nelson  [email protected] and he has some great reviews if you google him. It's pretty expensive but still way cheaper than we were initially being quoted through Jamaican planners.

AMB, sorry I have been so rubbish, the ?*&% has really hit the fan in the last month with everything from my FI's father figure granddad dying to a major fallout with a best friend (it's messed up) and so now she's not coming (or her hubby or daughter who was my flower girl!!). Crazy! Anyway...I am all over everything now (after a breather and a rather amusing hen/bachelorette party).

I am going out to Ja in 10 days and staying until the middle of Sept. How much is Noida charging? I have no clue who we will use and figured more or less that we would do the rounds when we get there.

No Idea about videographer i'm afraid :( Duane doesn't recommend one? We have decided to just set up our camcorder for the ceremony & speeches on a tripod. We don't want movie quality, just a recording of the words as a keep sake and if we can save a dollar here or there....

How is everything your end?

Thank you catererbride!! I actually got his name from Caribbean Pantry's website.  I emailed him and he responded right back. The only thing is I have to provide plates and serving pans.  But you are right, he's way cheaper than what Jamaican planners are charging.

Yikes sorry to hear about your dilemma.  I hope everything is ok now :)

Btw,  I have read good reviews about Noida in this website.  Here's her facebook page

catererbride- i'm getting married nov. 2012. i know it's still more than a year away. i'm already stressing on getting the vendors, etc.  i'm trying to avoid hiring a wedding planner (or if need be i'm only going to hire them as partial).  they're so expensive like you said they earn more than the teachers in JA.  one was recommended to me by the villa that we booked but she is based in Canada so which means i still have to pay for her to come to JA - on top of her fee.

Our wedding was on May 4, 2014 at Scotch on the Rocks Villa in Ocho Rios and was absolutely amazing!!!  I worked with Natalie Chen from Caribbean Pantry on a monthly based for 1 year prior to our wedding.  Natalie and Charlene were so accommodating with my questions and needs.  From suggesting flowers, getting us the best pricing, helping with the menu and catering to our every need, we could have not asked for a more perfect day.  Natalie helped with flowers, suggestions on where to visit, and made everyone feel so comfortable.  Natalie and Charlene are extremely reliable and I would tell anyone who wants an awesome experience, wedding or otherwise to go with Natalie at Caribbean Pantry!!!!!

The first day we arrived, my father left his bag with his passports, drivers licenses, iPads, and kindles at the airport.  He did not realize this until 2 to 3 hours after we arrived at the villa.  Natalie came over the first day to check in with me on how everything was going so far.  I let Natalie and Charlene know what had happened with my dad's bag and they immediately started calling everyone they knew to get the bag back.  Natalie called the police and made a report, called airport security,  the ierk shack that we stopped at along the way to get the bag back.  Immediately after her phone calls, she contacted the US Embassy to start the procedure for emergency passports.  Shortly after her calls, the police from the airport called her back to say the bag was found. Natalie then took my dad to meet the driver to go to the airport and get the bag.  I don't know what we would have done without Natalie, this was clearly not part of the wedding planning and she stepped up and took charge.  My wedding week would have been ruined without my dad getting his bag back.

Thank you for such a wonderful time and experience, I look forward to seeing you again when we return to Jamaica!

Sincerely, Chris and Kristen Wilkinson
