ok, wow. so when I first read this, I'm not gonna lie, I was like, "nothing but juice. for 30 days. NO dress is worth that!!" but then I was curious so I checked out the video 'Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead,' on Hulu for free, and it was an eye-opener. I've wanted to find a way to incorporate more vegetables into my diet, and I think this could be a good solution. not so much full-time but more as a supplement.

is there a way to try juicing without the juicer? did you follow the recipes on jointhereboot.com? how is the taste, honestly (especially for those kale-laden drinks - that can't be good ; )? I think it makes sense and lots of people could use it. I'm going to try to find a local juice place to test out the concoctions. if all goes well, maybe I can pick up a used juicer on Craigslist.

I would have never thought of this (and have never heard of it before). thanks for the idea!

And the recipes taste great, for the first 10 days I didnt work out at all, I just juiced.  Then I loved the juices so much I would juice breakfast/lunch and eat a no carb dinner.  I would make 2 32oz juices and sip it all day going back and forth between my water and my juice! You feel so amazing afterwards, like so full of energy..but the first 3 days are hard

Thanks ladies for all the support, it totally helps to come on here and get motivated.  FI thinks I'm crazy, but that's coming from Mr. Motabilism himself...he can eat anything and not gain a pound.  I know I've gained muscle because I can feel and see the difference.  It's a love hate thing right now.  My legs and hips are my problem areas so strengthen them is key, but at the same time I don't want them to get better.  I just need to get out of this funk and move on.

I actually started juicing after watching fat, sick and nearly dead, not for wedding weight loss....but it was an added bonus :)

I started off with just the green juice.  It actually isnt bad after the apples, lemon and ginger,  It is actually bearable, the most tedious thing is cleaning the strainer out so I could make another batch. Then I started juicing 5 oranges and 2 carrots for breakfast...lemme tell you...YUM YUM YUMMMMM!!!! The green juice has a better taste with a pear and a handful of cranberries.  I didnt try to many recipes with beets.....not the best taste in the world **blech**. After awhile you learn how to modify the juices according to your liking. The main thing is to have more vegetables than fruits to get the most benefit.

It was the best option for me because I take in minimum to no vegetables a day...I need to do better in that department....

We have a grocery store here that will juice just about anything for you, its called earth fare, check to see if any of your local health food stores offer juicing, that's the easiest way to try before you buy one of your own.

Hi girls!!  So sorry to hear what you are going thru.  I know how irritating and discouraging that could be.  First I want to say I bet you are busting your butt and doing as much as you can physically and you should be proud of that.  But there could be lots of reasons you are not seeing the changes you expected or your dress/clothes didn't fit the way you expected.  I don't know your situations but I'm just going to throw some things out there that could be contributing to this.

- not enough water

- not recovering correctly (protein, glutamine, BCAAs, etc.)

- not sleeping enough

- not eating enough

- not eating enough fruits, veggies, protein and good carbs

- eating too much

- eating too much white carbs, salt, sugar, alcohol

- supplements (wrong kind, too much)

- that time of month

- stress

and the list could probably continue quite a ways.

I would just suggest that if what you have been doing does not seem to work or isn't getting you closer to your goal fast enough then maybe some changes need to be made.  Cut out the weekend booze, cut out the happy hour drinks, cut out the treat you think you deserve, drink more and more water and when you think that was enough...drink some more, try different types of cards or protein sources, and anything else you think may be keeping you from your goal.  And if you happen to feel drained, depleted and have no energy at all it just might be time for a carb re-load!!  Those are fun and very beneficial but please do some research on it before you just start stuffing your face with any type of starch lol.

I know you are all busting your butts...I know how hard Insanity is.  But even with extreme physical activity if your nutrition isn't in line with that then you could be canceling out the hard work you've been doing, taking smaller steps toward your goal instead of bigger leaps or you could be doing more damage than good to your body.

Like kellygrrrl said...if you think you are burnt out then take a day or two off or do another activity.  If your body feels like it needs rest and recovery....TAKE IT!!  But get right back into it and stick to a healthy nutrition plan and once it gets closer to your date/goal start making those little changes and cutting back that little extra something that you can live without for a while (alcohol, sweets, junk food).

I don't know if any of that helped you girls out but it was just some thoughts I had.  Hope you are all staying strong and sticking with it and listening to your bodies!!

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!!

Hey Bride2012...I am a juicer too.  LOVE IT!!!  Sipping some apple, pineapple, kiwi, carrot juice right now....YUMM!!  Thanks for the website and the video...added it to my netflix queue.  I have my moments where I juice everyday and am really motivated and then I stop for like a week or so cause I just get lazy.  Cleaning the juicer really does suck and can be such a turn off.  I definitely plan on sticking with juicing once I start my routine up next week.

I have to admit....kinda scared to start Insanity again LOL.  I know I won't be as strong or have as much endurance as I did but I'll get there.

hey ladies - wanted to post a couple before and after shots showing progress over the first 5 weeks. I'm just finishing the first week of month two, and it's going well! much better than the first time I did it, I think because I really relaxed in week 5 and returned to it renewed and committed to making it through month two.

now I realize these shots will likely not help me win any biggest loser competitions - the difference is subtle. I've lost 1"+ in the major places and am hoping for continued progress in the waist/hips/thighs in month two. also, I've done only Insanity this week but am missing P90X. I think the weights helped lean out the muscles a bit more, whereas Insanity has a tendency to build them. oh, and I heard on Dr. Oz this week that, "Fat on the thighs is not metabolically active and is being stored for future use." he was pushing this white kidney bean extract to help block starches, and although I'm not into all the supplements, it's definitely food for thought.

how's everyone else doing??
