The Official INSANITY Support Thread

Recommended Posts

Great to find this thread.  FI and I started Insanity last month and stuck to it for the first few weeks, I then had a crazy week at work and missed 5 nights in a row ... haven't ever made it back :(  After reading some of your posts though I'm determined to get back on it so going to start again from week 1 this week - DIG DEEPER!!!!

Hey ladies. I'm assuming no one here is a personal trainer but I'm looking for popular opinion. I work out really hard regularly (2 to 3 times a week. 4 when I'm super motivated) and I just started Insanity. So far I'm not sore at all. I agree this is a hard work out. But from people who were already in pretty good shape, did you see a lot of results?

Hi DaynaBee, I was in the same boat as you. I had some leg soreness for a day or two when I first started, but not much more after that. Instead I found that my muscles were incredibly fatigued, especially be the end each week. (which makes sense since you are doing cardio, and not doing muscle loading exercises.) I still saw great results with fat loss though, so nothing to worry about if that's your goal! It's interesting to note though that I just started the month 2 DVDs, and I find that these workouts utilize strenght a lot more. This week my whole body hurts, upper and lower!

Hey oblaka, thanks for writing back! That's comforting. I am looking to loose weight. I am a little worried about losing muscle but I haven't been able to get this last 10-15 lbs off of me and it's time to try something new. I guess I can always put the muscle back on afterwards. I just read about the 2 month being way harder so I guess I'll see how I feel after that =)

I'm also wondering though. I'm not terribly flexible, and some of the exercises like the V push up I can't really do. I'm trying my best but there have been workouts I feel like I can't finish or I can't even do. Have other people run in to this and still seen good results?

There are def some of them I can't do, especially the v push up; I try to do reg push-ups or try to do variations of the v push-ups. I think that's the whole idea though; I love it cause in the videos you'll see people on Shaun t's team drop out and take a break, it's comforting to know we aren't the only ones struggling!

I so needed to read this thread. I bought insanity last year and it is just sitting there after I tried it and couldn't get past the warm up. I only need to lose 5 pounds but they are 5 very stubborn pounds. I have been eating healthy and working out but they wont go away. You ladies are motivating me to dust those Insanity off and start back. I seriously need to tone . . . my arms are super flabby. I think I will start AFTER thanksgiving:)

Losing muscle??? LOL!!! Your muscles will be working so hard, you will start hurting in places you never thought possible. You will definitely not lose muscle on insanity . . . trust me!

No workout regimen should result in your losing muscle. If this does occur it's the result of your diet, not the workout. The harder and more frequent the workouts, the higher your protein intake should be.

In the event that you run into specific exercise that you can't complete just substitute the exercise for something comparable like TulumBride suggested.
