We sent out the STDs about a year before our wedding date. Then, we sent out invitations about 10 months before the wedding, and will ask guests to RSVP about 6 months before the wedding. We did this all electronically (no paper invites), so it was easier and less stressful for us.

We just sent out our STD last week (wedding on 2.11.12), and they directed people to the website we created where we are having everyone RSVP.  We just let everyone know to finalize their RSVP by September 15, so 5 months before the wedding.

I am expecting some stragglers to come in, but hoping not.  I created a Facebook page, since almost all guests are on there (isn't everyone nowadays..) and will bully people on there if we need people's response  embarrassed.gif

We have to get place settings, OOT bags, and everything else figured out, so I guessed that would be enough time for me to get my stuff done, and give people enough time to save and see if they will be able to afford to come.

I think it more depends on how many people you are inviting..we only expect around 35, so not too stressful!

I mailed our STD's in Feb for our December wedding. I'm thinking about sending the formal invitations out in early August with an October 1st RSVP date so I know exactly who is coming and who is not. I don't want any surprise last minute guests showing up that are not accounted for!  cheesy.gif

I sent my STD's about 10 months in advance, with our website on them and our TA's contact information.  By now, everyone has already put down their deposit for our destination wedding.

I'm thinking of sending out our formal invites in the next few weeks (wedding Jan 2012), but was wondering about the importance of RSVPs?  Seeing as they've paid their deposit, I assume that they're coming...and a few have RSVPd on our website.  I was thinking of using the RSVP section of our invites as a schedule of events to list the welcome dinner, excursion, ceremony times, etc.  Do you think I should still include an RSVP for formality or is it just a waste seeing as they've already made their commitment via a deposit?

I was thinking  9 months for STDs and 6-5 months for formal invites with the RSVP required at 3 months before. If you give people too much time they think they have plenty of time and then forget to RSVP. Plus most of our guests will be coming from

Florida, and trips to the Bahamas are common now-a-days.
