Ceremony Time

The almanacs mean that the sun is completely below the horizon. You'll have a few minutes left of sunlight before it's gone. 

 

I've scheduled our wedding for 4.30 which means by 5, when we'll be taking the pictures, you'll get a good sun through the clouds glow. Or at least, that's what I've been told. I've spoken to three photographers and was told that you want the day to have broken to get some great pics of the sky. In the day it'll be too bright and at night just dark.

We're at the Grand Palladium in Punta Cana so it would make sense that the sunsets are at different times... I'm still confused how they can think the suns completely gone by shortly after 6 though... I've been to Mexico and Punta Cana and I remember it being light out when I would walk to dinner for 7ish... and it being completely dark when I left... then again thats in Jan-Feb... Obviously the photographers and WC's know best lol

Definitely check with your wedding photographer!  Having the sun setting directly in front of the guests will make pictures very difficult, will make your guests uncomfortable and may make it difficult to look directly at the ceremony.  You would not want your guests squinting and covering their faces during the key part of your ceremony!

Our ceremony time is at 4pm and will be taking pictures after that followed by the cocktail hour.  I asked my wedding coordinator a while ago if we should move it to 5 or so and she suggested to me I keep it at 4 so we will have more time for pictures

We originally had our ceremony at 5 but have switched to 4. People on this site (thank u!) recommended th switch and our photographer requested the switch as well.

We are doing it at 5 pm.

Its true, we don't have much time for photo's, but we only have the photographers for 5 hours. so this way we get them for getting ready, the ceremony, after the ceremony, and the reception.  We'll probably be late for dinner, and I told them I'd love to have a picture of us on the beach in the water, so maybe we'll splash around a bit in the dark at the end of the reception.  Our photographers told us that they'd even prefer later, so we can have sunset pictures, but if we're trying to catch sunset, I don't mind leaving the reception a bit, or showing up a bit late for that.  This will also be nice because there won't be nearly as many people at the beach.

I'm so jealous of all the afternoon ceremony times.  We're getting married on a Sunday so the latest time for us is 10am.  I didn't want to change the date as we are using our anniversary date and I didn't want to wait another year.  It's still going to be amazing regardless of the ceremony time. 

 

Anyone else doing morning?  I have no idea what I'm going to do about reception times.
