I have not been on in forever it seems! I went to Vegas for a few days with my girls so I have been recovering, ha ha!

 

Vav, welcome.  Sorry I did not see your question sooner.  Welcome and congrats!  I do feel like I got a great deal.  My TA is supposed to be emailing me our contract(I don't have a scanner to scan it in).  I can email it to you when I get it.  I know the others are wanting to see it too, it is taking literally forever to get! 

 

JB:So glad to hear you FMIL is doing better and that you have had some help. I can't wait to check out the dress you posted a link to.  The centerpieces are so amazing! They will be beautiful. 

 

I have not heard anything about the DJ either, I have stopped emailing because I just got more and more frustrated. One of my good friends just came home from her wedding in Mexico at Secrets, she said we shouldn't stress. She did no planning at all and she had an amazing time with a wonderful ceremony and reception.  Hopefully we have the same experience!

Moni, my sister is bringing it home so we'll so how it would stand the 24 hour travel. I'm planning on just adding on luggage for everything that we bring to DR. We figured it still a bit cheaper than shipping it to the resort.

 

Acutie, had no luck with the bags I'm kinda mad too since I need about 10 more of them... So sorry! Let me know if you want you're check sent back or I have a shredder...

As for the DJ, some of our friends just got married in Mexico and used DJ Mannia and they were raving about him and how awesome he was. I think my FI and I are really considering booking him. We also did our engagement shoot last weekend and we had such an amazing time. We can't wait to see our pics, but we have to wait 2 weeks.. blah!!! We are also considering on down grading our package and paying for our photographer to be out there with us because we love how artsy he is!

 

As for shipping items I don't know how it is in the dominician but my friends sister shipped stuff to mexico and it didn't even make it out of customs until the day of the wedding and she was sooo nervous that she wasn't going to end up with the items.

Hey Ladies!  I have not been on in forever. Super busy at work making all my summer brides beautiful!   I am excited to say that we are trying to take a trip to the NOW in August.  My client that works for Apple is giving us his friends and family discount.  I have to wait till the second week in July to get the dates available for August but we are hoping to go the first week in August for three nights. Fingers crossed this works out for us!  If this happens then I can get more information for all of us!  We were going to try and go in July but the dates available were not working with my schedule!   So everyone say a prayer that I can get the first week in August and I will be able to meet up with Claribel and get more answers for our big days!  Hopefully I will be able to see a wedding there as well!!  My other client that stayed at the NOW is in next thursday evening so hopefully she has positive reviews and more pics I can send you guys.

 

VAVV- Did you get rates yet for your wedding?  Where are your guests flying from?  Good to know there is another February Bride!  I will probably be around for your wedding.  We plan on staying at Secrets for our honeymoon so we may be leaving that day to go to the other hotel but any decorations I use I can definately leave you.  What day do you plan on flying in?

Deesanders, I have been planning on booking DJ Mannia I just wanted to see what the option is from the resort so I can make sure that it would be worth it to also pay for the DJ since I'm already paying extra for an outside photographer... Jeeeezzz these costs are adding up again!!! Maybe it would be worth it to go down on the wedding package and just add on what I need. So annoying they won't let you swap things.

 

Sarah, It would be so awesome if you could experience NOW first hand and would definitely help us since you basically would be looking for the things we would look for as far as wedding details! I'm crossing my fingers with you!!!

 

Just aslo wanted to share another find by my sis who's enjoying too much and making me sooo jealous being in the Philippines. These are part of my BM's gifts.

I did get rates and they're good. I'm waiting to hear back from my TA about incentives. I'm going to let people book their own travel because trying to secure it hasn't been so good on my end and I'm not going to keep tying up money in deposits for group travel. Thing is I live in London, UK now and it got incredibly hard to find a state side TA to do flights for all my US peeps and folks in the UK (apparently airlines frown on that). So I'd have to find two different TAs. I will be sending out loads of reminders for people to book their flights and am telling them that there's a special deal if they book before a certain date - to not have any slow poke planners.

 

I too am planning on visiting. I'm going to go with my sister & mom in September - still sussing out the dates though. Need to also go dress shopping while I'm stateside. 

 

So what are your colors? We've decided on purple & lilac. And that's as far as we've gotten. How far along are you?

JB - I totally agree with you that is why I am trying to wait on them to email me back. I never heard back about confirming my wedding time and I emailed them again to see if I can get a response and I also asked who the DJ was AGAIN!! How much is the vendor fee for bringing a photographer, man I didn't even think about that!!! CRAP!

BTW I am jealous about all these neat finds your sis is doing!! Love the bracelets!

 

Vav we are doing 4 different colors. The main two colors are brown and tiffany blue with pink and orange accents at the resception.

Deesanders, I completely agree with the vendor passes fee as well! I've seen ridiculous amounts for other resorts in the DR from $150-$300... So that's why I keep asking them about who they're providing and the fee as well for outside vendors. I think if I don't get an answer this week I'll post on the Facebook page, I've seen an actual employee from Now responding to concerns and questions... I guess that can be an option.

Sarah:What kind of work do you do? How exciting to get to go on a mini vacay to see NOW.

 

I saw on the other NOW forums that outside vendors were $75 or the cost of a day pass.  My TA said that was what she had heard too.  Hopefully that is still right!

 

DeeSanders:Keep harassing them about your confirmation, they should send you an email.  Maybe they just aren't so worried because it is more than a year away?
