Is anyone going to wear a PURE white wedding dress? Please post pics :)

So, I really want to wear a white (Optical white - which is said to be stark white) wedding dress for my wedding.  There are two reasons I want it to be stark white.  1. I think it looks amazing against the turquoise sea backdrop 2. Our drapery and chairs during the ceremony will be white and I do not want my dress to look dirty next to them by wearing off-white.

 

Pronovias has 2 choices in the dress I like and that is Optical white and Off-white.  It seems 98% of brides on this forum (and every other bride I've talked to), even the sales associates push the off-white, but I honestly do not want to wear something that will look dirty at my ceremony and reception.

 

So, if you have worn or have bought a dress in white, pure white, stark white, optical white, please show off your beautiful dresses  I feel like I'm alone here on this!

Hi there! I wore a stark white dress and I loved it... It was simple, light, sheer and most importantly cool! A light breeze was enough to keep me cool and the photos of my dress blowing in the wind were gorgeous.

 

I've attached an image, although I don't have many with the actual water as a backdrop...  I got married in Australia though and the water wasn't particularily turquoise. Mother nature provided an amazing sunny day though, and I think my white dress looks lovely with the blue sky background!

 

One word of warning, with stark white make sure you protect it well for travel!

Thanks for sharing that!  I think you look great in the all white!  And yes, it does look nice with the pretty blue sky and also next to your MOH - it really makes the colors pop  

 

Our accent colors are fuschia and orange, so next to stark white these colors will look amazing! Kinda going for bright and not so much softer colors.

 

And as far as traveling with a white dress, I was planning on transporting it with me in a garment bag, so hopefully that will stay in tack the whole way.  I just hope I don't spill wine on myself lol! I think I'll stick to clear liquids the day of.

I am! I choose a white dress from david's bridal petite collection. originally, it was only going to be for the TTD but now that i love it so much I think it will be my ceremony dress too!

Pleasure... I miraculously managed to keep mine free of wine spills. My gorgeous frangipani / orchid bouquet on the other hand was destroyed by two women in their early 30's that are both dying for a ring! ha ha

I think it's a matter of personal preferance and what looks best on your skin tone.  I don't look good in stark white b/c I'm very pale white with blonde hair, it washes me out.  So you have to go with what you like best for YOU.

 

But I'd also like to think that I didn't look "dirty" at my wedding or receptions either.

by this same reasoning, wont your dress make the drapery and chairs look dirty? because you said they are white, not "optical" white.

 

my dress was ivory with a champagne band and laces in the corset back. like carly im also very fair skinned and look HORRIBLE in white. i know for a fact my dress didn't look dirty at all.

I wore a 'stark white' dress for my wedding... mostly because when I tried on the dress in the shop, I had the choice of ivory or white... and since my wedding was going to be on the beach, I stood right next to the window in natural light and held a white dress up in front of me (as the dress i wanted, they only had in ivory in the shop).  Anyways, in natural light, the white looked WAY better (on me anyways, as I'm quite pale)... I got nothing but compliments on it, so I say... go with white!!!

Like telling me I should where an off-white when my colors are plain white, orange and fuschia just seems not right. It doesn't flow and just seems awkward next to everything else in the wedding.

 

I've worn white before and it looks really good against my skin color, just don't get why its so shunned.

With my pure white dress the colors I chose (bright orange and cobalt) will really pop! I love it!
