happyfamily- I have read great things about the TAs from this website.  I am using a wedding planner/TA based (Ophellia McNight, with Bridal Affair Destination) in Canada who specialises in Jamaican destination weddings. If you would like her contact info let me know. So far she has been great.  She is taking care of both wedding planning and the TA services for us so there is a fee, but I am not sure what her fee would be for just the travel and accomodation aspect. Another great thing about her is that she is in Jamaica often during the high season and is very up to date on all the current information.

Trust me, when you are planning a DW, time goes by faster than you imaging.  We had to put off our wedding a couple of times due to family stuff, and time just flew by.

It is amazing how quickly time passes. Our wedding date is set at the resort. We're just waiting for the 2013 wedding packages to come out officially so we can decide and plan. We were told that the packages wont come out until Aug... more waiting. I have looked at the previous years, so I definitely have an idea of what's in store. My FI wanted to take a separate trip down to the resort prior to the wedding so we can scope out the place and pre-plan, but I was like, 'naaah we'll just meet with the WC when we arrive and take a couple hours to pick everything out'. After reading through lots of forums on this site, I have complete faith in the WC and their capabilities...

Welcome Sarah!  Congratulations!!!!!!!!!  Such an exciting time in your life. 

 

 I am also planning for April 2013.  We are getting married at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen.  How did it go with your TA meeting?  I found a fabulous TA here on the BDW site.  Her name is Wendy Hicks and I love her to pieces!!!!  Look forward to hearing about your planning.  We are all here to help and feel free to bounce things off of us!!!

Hi All!  First post here!  I love seeing all the support the BDW community offers along with the fabulous resources!  I too am a May 2013 bride! Unfortunately, the Grand Palladium Resort doesn't have their 2013 wedding packages out yet so we are unable to nail down a date.  I seriously CANNOT wait till that date is confirmed so we can finally move forward as I'm already hearing family/friends telling us that they're getting other wedding invites on the same weekend already.  EEK!

 

I agree with TauruSmith with starting a new May 2013 planning thread.  It'd be extremely helpful! 

 

I'd also like to congratulate everyone on their engagement/weddings!  It's amazing to have a support system who is also in the same boat in planning a destination wedding especially since none of our immediate friends can offer advice nor have the experience.
