ROR Brides (Riu Ocho Rios)

Recommended Posts

Ladies, I was just reading over everything in this thread & see that many of you have discrepancies between what you were told by the WC & what you are sharing with each other. Some of the same things may have happened with us past ROR brides when you read some of the older ROR threads & because of that I can not stress this enough. Make sure that you bring copies of all email correspondence between you & the WC.

Despite the fact that Chandlyn was the coordinator at the time I was married, she honored everything that she told me & it definitely helped that I had copies of our correspondence. With the number of weddings that go on at ROR per day, it would be easy to see why everyone gets told something different even though some things should be standard across the board.

So if there's something that the present WC promised you via email & you are now finding out that that same thing is no longer available/allowed, then I would definitely remind the WC of what was promised when you meet with her a few days before your wedding.

I remember how stressful it was when it came to planning the wedding & having a certain idea of how your ceremony/reception is going to look only to find that your idea can't happen, only adds to the stress.

Hopefully all of you will have exactly what you want & will love ROR as much as I did.

I'm so happy this thread is going - I've been so confused lately about all the changes and the different information I've been getting. It will be nice to have current information, and since I leave in a few weeks, I can try to answer questions when I return too for all the brides coming up!

So, for guests from outside the resort that are coming - it's $75 per person for a day pass, but does that not include the entire day? Someone had mentioned that it was only good for 1 hour before the wedding until 2am.... We have 2 people in our wedding party that are staying at a different resort - but we wanted them to come and get ready with us...I guess I should contact Keisha about this!!

Thanks so much for the great advice Yolanda!  I have my "stack" of email correspondence ready to go as back-up in case of any attempts to change things onsite at ROR.

We leave in just 15 days now ... woohoo! msnparty.gif

I am just going to go into the wedding with an open mind and "no worries mon".  I don't plan on purchasing extras myself so I won't have a lot to worry about there.  I have decided to go ahead and have my hair done at Renova due to the vendor fee though.  I will need to ask Keisha ahead of time if they have a microphone to use based on the review I just read and the wind.  Luckily, they are having the beach party the night of my wedding so we are only doing the semi-private reception and then heading down to the beach party and later on the disco.  Nothing "formal" by way of a reception as we are having our AHR one week after we get home.

With this being my second wedding, I'm a lot more laid back. Just hang in there ladies.  I wouldn't get too stressed about things not going as you have set in your mind.  It will all work out and your guests probably won't notice if something is not as you wanted. Remember it's a beautiful place to get married - don't let their discrepencies ruin your wedding day!

Wow! You ladies have been busy over the last few days!

I'm glad to see so much info on here and even more glad to see everything is pretty negotiable.  Have all of you signed contracts and are now figuring out prices for everything?  Is that how these thigns work?  Bc that seems backwards considering the massive hidden extras are what will make me choose another resort.  ugh~!

Blonde question:  When you guys are talking about the system rental are you talking about the DJ's large stand and equipment....or just a PA system?  BC I really really really want to rent the PA system

Are you guys using travel agents????

Whats with the kids free thing?  Is that just a promo till aug?  I found it on a few websites (like hotels.com) or other websites that said it was a promo and needed to be booked by march 31...but the date seemed to vary or only be on promo websites.

I'm curious about this too.  I didnt recieve an answer back as to how many ppl are included in the free package... or any for that matter.

Hutchets - she sent it to me early Feb. so it is pretty 'fresh' :)

I'm hoping that we can rent the system (don't care about the cost for this!) It is a MUST.

That's funny - they give you tiki torches but they don't use them LOL.  I'm sure everything has a $ and it's usable again.

With regards to the 'optional extra's".  It says $10.50 for addtional person. Does this mean that when I exceed the number of people in my package i.e 15, I have to pay extra for each addtional person if I want them to eat dinner with us and be part of our ceremony?

Hidden 'extra's' are just creeping up :)

Misti,

I went back and read the contract from the wedding manager (Stafanie something). It outlines the packages and with the Free Pacakge they tell you there is no limit on guest up to the capacity of the hotel. The only thing they mention is that the cake and sparkling wine is for 10.  I think it's a good idea to go back and re-read the contract.
