ROR Brides (Riu Ocho Rios)

Recommended Posts

We had our wedding on the beach at 3pm - we paid the steel drum band to play which was awesome, then we had dinner at the plantation at 6:30pm - 8:30pm, then we had rented the disco from 9-11pm. Oh! And my bridesmaids and I got our hair and makeup done at the Renova Spa - they are SO GOOD too!!

Of course not everything went perfectly - it started pouring rain at 2:30 on the day of the wedding, the 1 of 2 times it rained over the two weeks I was there. So we pushed the wedding to 3:30 to see if the rain would clear up, which it did and we had a beautiful full rainbow behind us during the ceremony.

The dinner started a little late - we had a pretty big group of 47 people, so not everyone was even served by 8:30 when we were supposed to be done, but we just took our time, and then had speeches and then everyone made their way to the disco.

At the disco, everyone from our group didn't arrive until around 10pm so we only had an hour, but we still had a TON of fun. Since it was a Tuesday, the disco wasn't open late and we had to leave, any other day it's open to the public until 2am and everyone can go in there and party. We tried to pay off the DJ to stay later for us but he didn't go for it.

Then at 11pm we all went out to the plaza bar and had more drinks and danced out there and people eventually started to head home to bed.

BUT, the little things that didn't go to plan were things that I had no control over and despite it all I wouldn't have changed a thing - it was a beautiful day, there were 4 weddings that day and there was another group in the plaza with us at the end of the night, I didn't even see the other two.

I remember feeling anxious before going, because it was all unknown, but honestly everything will be SO beautiful! They do so many weddings there and are so professional! I didn't give them enough credit before going there, they honestly exceeded my expectations!! You will not be dissapointed!!

I am using Marcia Roberts as a photographer and I have seen great reviews about her on the site. What she told me is that we can do one of two things. I can get day guess passes for her, the assistant photographer, and the videographer which will cost me $150 the down side to that she is can not come on the property until a hour before the ceremony therefore she wouldnt be able to take photo's of me getting ready. The other otion is I can pay for the three of them to stay overnight and she will take photos from the time im getting ready and while my fiance is getting ready because the assistant photag will be with him. She stays until after the reception is over at 10:30pm.

My fear is the dinner starting lat in the plantation because I am having a reception in there from 6:30- 10:30 and I want to maximize my PARTY time because I have over 60 guest confirmed. Is their anyway around this dinner being extremely late.

You will LOVE working with Marcia Roberts!  She photographed our wedding on April 7th at ROR and her and her assistant Christopher were fantastic to work with!  We booked both the wedding day and TTD shoot with Marcia, and the photos turned out amazing.  We paid for a one-night stay at the resort (which offset the vendor fees), so that they could shoot the TTD the next day, and it was well worth the cost.  They make you feel completely comfortable and you really do have a lot of fun with the shots...you end up feeling like a movie star. Great choice!

I'm freaking out now. Sunwing is going to be the only tour operator from Canada that will carry all RIU resorts. They will have all of the RIU's by November 2011. That means, if we had balls, they'd be holding ours in a jar right now!!!!

I got pricing for 1700 + 300 taxes for the month of April. Are u kidding me? They are going to loose out on business is this is the pricing they are going to be giving for a group rate.

I have an excellent TA working on my quote but I think she wants to slap a few people out now too. Oh my!!! :(
