new RIU Puerto Vallarta in 2008???

I've read on Riu's website that a new hotel is opening in 2008. does anyone know when and does anyone have any experience with staying in a RIU either in PV or other areas of Mexico. Looking into possibly recommending OOT guest to stay there as an option other than the Westin. Any thoughts

Hmm I'm not too sure about this. I know they have the Riu Jalisco and the newer Riu Vallarta which was opened in late 2006.

It's mentioned on their website here... but would like it to be completed before May 2008, when we are getting married...

Looks very nice!! Hopefully they intend to open then... also you may want to rethink sending some guests there. I know when a new hotel opens there are usually lots of kinks they need to get out first. i remember reading alot of bad reviews when the Riu Vallarta first opened. Hopefully they'll learn from that experience and be more organized with this one.

Is this in PV or Nuevo Vallarta?? I'm confused?

It says "Located on Playa de Flamingos beach, 2 km / 1.5 miles from Nuevo Vallarta" so I'm assuming Nuevo Vallarta then.

Wow the RIU is definitely sucking up that Nuevo Vallarta coastline, their other 2 resorts are huge already! lol I honeymooned at a RIU and loved it (Jamaica) so I'm sure it will be fabulous.

 

My only word of advice is that Nuevo is really far from PV proper (techincally in another state). If your wedding will be in Nuevo then I say it's no problem, but if your wedding/events will be in PV it's just too far. Like a 30 minute/$25 cab ride each way...not cool when they could stay closer and take 10 minute $5 cab rides everywhere.

I know! I mean it is closer than say, Houston, but it's not that close to PV..lol
