Every thing you want to know about Catholic Ceremony at Grand Caribe Real

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys - My FI and I are getting married at the GCR Chapel in a little less than 3 months!!  Did any of you have to sign a Chuch Guidline?  I told our coordinator that we just got our permission letter and that I would be scanning and emailing to her.  She then sent me a Church Guidline from the church and said that she needs signatures.  I was reading it and it's pretty much the rules of the church.  No cell phones, shorts, hats, no eating, chewing gum, etc.  It seems pretty obvious you would be respectful in the church already, but was wondering if anyone else had to sign this.

Also, did anyone have a married couple, not married by the Catholic Church, be the sponsors of the Lazo?   Although our couple was not married in the Catholic Church, they are still Catholic.  Did the Priest ask anything about your sponsors?

Thanks!

Norma

Hey Norma. Just had my wedding in February. We did not sign anything about a set of guidelines. Hopefully it wasn't the cause of any wedding party for them to start requesting this. Also, the priest did not ask much questions regarding sponsors for me. My sponsors were not married. I even had 2 of my grandmothers do the Lazo ceremony. If you have anymore questions, feel free to message me.

For everyone else, I wrote a review on TripAdvisor. It wasn't as detailed as I would like but I've been busy since I came back home.

Hope it helps and if you have any other questions, feel free to message me.

I just heard from our coordinator about the rules of the chapel. In them it says that everyone must have their shoulders covered. I asked her about my wedding dress since it is strapless and about bridesmaids dresses and I was told we must wear a shawl or a pashmina. Did anyone have a problem with this as well? Im concerned about wearing a pashmina in my pictures, and I'm afraid of how hot it will be!

I'm a little concerend with the rules of the chapel too :|  My wedding is just a couple of weeks away and I'm hoping that my veil will be good enough to cover my shoulders.  As for our guests and MOH wearing strapless dresses, I'm not sure what to do about them.  I'm just going to wing it and hope they don't notice or say anything about it.

I just got an email back from my wedding coordinator and this is what she said "It is not a new rule but on past weddings no bride followed that rule, so…. the priest created the “church guideline documentâ€, so he can verify that rule will always accomplished" I'm so upset because I really don't want to wear a shawl and I don't want my bridal pay to have to either. I feel that this should have been in the original contract.

Wow, this is definitely new.  When I got married at the chapel I never saw any 'guidelines' nor did anyone ever even mention it to me at all.  I wore a strapless dress and so did all my bridesmaids.

Hi, So I can't believe Im saying this but we are now looking at other resorts. I really don't want to look back at my pictures and get mad every time I look at the shawl. It's tough because we've been booked for a year now and I've been picturing my wedding there, but I don't like the new rules and I don't Ike that we weren't informed until we asked about something.
