Just something to consider.... we are doing the sit-down 3 hour reception.  Instead of doing the "Welcome Dinner" the night before the wedding, we asked Monica if we could make it earlier in the week (we are getting married on Saturday) -- so we scheduled our welcome dinner the day after our guests arrive so everyone can get to meet each other early in the week.  Since there isn't really much of a rehearsal, we opted to just change our rehearsal dinner to a welcome dinner.  After the rehearsal (which will only include a few of our guests) we will all go eat at a restaurant together.  Just an idea.  Seemed to be one that appealed to us.

I am still REALLY torn on the reception ideas.  I have asked my WC and they will NOT exchange the rehearsal dinner for reception - kinda dorky to me since they seem interchangable to me but they look at it in $.

Last year I was in my best friend's wedding at Beaches Negril. It was beautiful. She did do the one hour reception and it was very nice. We had these baby shrimp on top of cucumber slices (sounds kinda weird, but they were awesome!) and some different kebobs with beef/chicken. I think there were some other things, too. It was honestly all really good. And the staff was incredible! They were so helpful, happy, and attentive and they tied in some really neat local traditions that were so memorable! I think there was about 15 of us and that timing seemed pretty good, and then we all went to dinner together at one of the existing restaurants. Everything was great, but to be honest, with as many guests as you sound like you are having I think you might be happier with the 2 hour reception, but I would definitely not go any less than the one hour, just my opinion, of course. Also,I will definetly say do not rely at all on Liquid night club. It was awful. When they say they turn it over to the the adults at 11 it is not what you are thinking. Unless you consider a  bunch of 16-20 year olds (guests and locals it appeared to be-strange because how did the locals get in? or why is the staff allowed to mingle after hours? don't know, but that's what happenend) drinking, making out, and grinding each other all over the dance floor and couches in a fog machine filled, laser light room the size of the guest rooms. Plus the music is so loud you feel like your head is going to explode. And don't get me wrong, we are a drinking partying crew all 25-30 yrs old and it was just really uncomfortable... like you wanted to go wake up their parents and have them drag their daugthers out by their hair. I am not trying to sound negative, because the rest of the trip and resort is amazing,I just don't want you to be disappointed when you realize your idea of a night of adult fun is ruined by a teenage romper room. Stick to the other bars and nightly events at the resort and you will be much better off. They do a great job providing interactive entertainment as well as a great energetic mood well into the night to keep everyone having a great time. Anyway, hope some of that helps and happy planning! PS... My FH and I have decided to do our own wedding at Sandals in St Lucia next April, so you know we must have really loved it!

I am SO confused now after reading his thread.... I need some clarification... PLEASE!!!

What are your choices for the reception? And cost? I thought that it was $50.00 per person to do a sit down dinner? Does anybody know for how long that is? AND.... a cocktail hour beforehand while the bridal party does the pictures... how much extra does that cost??

Gheesh, this whole process is stressing me out!! LOL!!
