When to book....help!

Hello ladies, I am planning my wedding at Dreams Palm Beach for March 30 2012. Just requested my date today! Anyways I am wondering for those who are having a 2012 wedding when are your guests booking? Or for those whose wedding is coming up in 2011 when did your guests book?

 

My TA told me that flight schedules aren't available until September 2011 or possibly as late as December 2011. That seems crazy to me that we wouldn't be able to book until December 2011, thats only 3 months till the wedding.

 

So if you could tell me your experience or what you did I would be so grateful!!

I would like to know what everyone else thinks as well! I am booking my rooms and flight separately and not going with a package deal (I found it cheaper to book rooms and flight separately). We are just requesting a group room block contract, and my wedding is on November 10th. As for flights, my TA thought that we would be able to book groups in May or June. What is everyone else's experience?

We had our guests put deposits down in April ($300 to hold the price quoted by our TA)for our December wedding in Cancun, then paid in full in October.  We weren't able to get quotes until 9 months before our departure dates due to the flight schedules.  And we went with a package deal since it was way cheaper than booking separately, even with seat sales, but I am from Canada, so everything is pricier here!

We ended up booking at the beggining of August for our upcoming April wedding. $300 at that time as the deposit and then had to pay in full by October. We went with a package from Signature Vacations and they knew our flight schedule then. We've since gotten a credit of $260/couple as part of our 'early-booking-bonus' included a 1 time price drop up to 60 days before our trip.

We deposited last month for our Jan 2012 wedding. Some of my family has already deposited as well. I was told airfare rates come out 11 months in advance, so you might want to call around and see what other TA's say. I plan on buying airfare pretty soon after it comes out , hoping to get a good early price. Good Luck!

We are getting married Feb 2012 at Dreams Puerto Vallarta and I have looked into booking. I received one quote only from Air Canada and it was so expensive even including the early booking bonus, so I am waiting until the prices become available online and they are forced to be competitive. I have researched the cost for a couple years now for our resort, so I know what the prices should be around. West jet prices are supposed to come out late march, early April. I think they said they honor early booking bonuses until September.

I am also a Dreams PV bride, we are getting married on January 24th, 2012. We booked our date last month with the resort and had 10 deposits ($200 each) put down with our TA to ensure our rate in mid Feb, all other deposits are due at the end of this month and total cost due mid August (early booking bonus). I would suggest getting on it as soon you can. We are having our guests have their deposits in by end of March because thats when my TA said flight schedules come out and this way we are guaranteed a spot on the flight before anyone else.

I would definitely call around to different TA's.... there's no way that those dates are correct.

We just got new quotes and they have gone down $160 per person...YAH!!  Glad we didn't go with the first quote! If we decide to go with this quote we would have to put a deposit down now of $300 and pay in full by Sept 2nd, this quote is thru Air Canada which is much cheaper then Sunquest so far. Still haven't received quotes from West Jet yet...so going to wait for those to come out next week hopefully!!!

Well air schedules should be out 9 months before your date.  For deposits for our resort it was $150 per person and air had to be paid in full at the time of reservation.  I didn't do a room block because we weren't planning to have a lot of guests, but now were not having any, so that would have been lots of money lost.  If you tell your family your plans now and can give them an estimate of what it will cost, and when they need to make their deposits, you can avoid getting a room block and possibly better prices.
