Congrats Joanne!!! I too didn't have that 'this is the one' feeling. The bridal store said that only about half have that feeling (but maybe she was just telling me that to make me feel better!). I honestly don't think I would have that feeling with any dress so I think it is just how I am. So you aren't along!

I have the same issue.  I don't think "the one" exists for me anyway.  If you like the dress and you have thought about it alot then you should have no worries.

Good news (I think) ...... I ordered my wedding dress! Such a weight off my sholders and delighted that it's now ordered as I was totally stressing about time, but now I'm also stressing a little because I never had the "OMG this is the one" feeling like so many other brides, and it is terrifying me!! I mean I think the dress is beautiful, but I just didn't have that OMG feeling. Am nervous that I might have settled because I was running out on time, or was it complete and utter fear of commiting to one dress that cost so much $$$$$!!! Anyone else feel the same?

Besides that I paid the 50% deposit for our photographer Ivan Luckie which I am really excited about. We have him all day on the wedding day plus a follow up trash the dress session in TWO locations! We also booked him for underwater photography. I can't wait!

I'm from Ireland but living in US and traveling between both for work and personal, but my family will be coming to visit for 2 weeks this month so while they are here we hop eto get the guys outfits sorted, so hopefully that will be taken care of this month.

We have our catholic pre-marriage course tomorrow and Sunday, which at first I was like "what a whole weekend!!", but hey I guess they do these for a reason and I hope it will do us good.

So a lot of big items being ticked off the list but I am still feeling overwhelmed at how much needs to be done! I think I was totally disillusional when I started this thinking a destination wedding would be easy! It's a lot of work people!!

One thing I am so greatful for is my wedding coordinator, she has been absolutely brilliant, love her so much and she wil be getting a huge hug when I eventually meet her! I know other brides have been so frustrated with how long it takes to get replies or information but my w/c has been fab, no more than 24 hours for a response, perfect english, very jolly and happy attitude and so helpful.

Wishing everyone a great weekend and looking forward to hearing all your progress, updates and venting!!

Oh Joanne, that's great news. So pleased you found your dress and you are happy with it. What is it like? What designer? I too didn't have 'the one' feeling just knew I loved it and felt good in it! That's all that matters! Jbean is so right, both men and dresses are like that! Ivan luckie is a great choice his work is great, I too am doing a trash the dress and I can't wait xxx

oh oh. now I feel a bit weird. I fell in love with my dress from a picture 4 months before I even tried it on. when I finally did it made me cry. does that qualify as "the one"?  as for the man I'm marrying, he is DEFINITELY "the one" and sometimes I look at him and love him so much that makes me cry too!!! even after 10 years!

Ladies -

I attended a local wedding on Saturday and I discovered yet another benefit of a destination wedding.  At the wedding, the bride and groom were not able to sit and eat a meal because they had to float anround and visit all of the tables.  My fiance turned to me and asked if we were going to be able to eat our reception meal (as he is a male who does not like to miss a meal!).  When I thought of it, the answer was yes - we are going to be able to eat!

1.  We will have fewer guests, so fewer tables to visit.

2.  We will have already spent 1-3 days with our guests at the resort prior to the wedding day, so we will have already greeted everyone.  Instead you can just join them all on the dance floor and have fun!

I would also like to make a confession to you ladies:  I was secretly happy that the wedding this past Saturday wasn't as fancy/impressive as I had expected.  There will be 4 couples from that wedding that will be traveling to our wedding in Mexico in 5 months and I was inwardly worried about comparisons between the two weddings.  Granted, the weddings will be so different due simply to location - but I didn't want anyone thinking that my wedding is lacking in any way.

I was partly kidding - I think that's wonderful if you have that! I think some people have "the one" feeling, and others don't. Personally, I had that feeling with two men before my Fi and I turned out to be VERY wrong, so I just don't trust myself to make that call anymore. What I do know, if Fi is perfect for me and makes me incredibly happy.

Clgriffi7 - I think that's a normal worry. We have less control over destination weddings, planning so far away, so it's tough to envision how it's all going to look/feel in the end. All destination weddings have the advantage of a beautiful backdrop, and the rest is icing on the cake!

I actually think thats one of the exciting things about destination weddings - the planning, the surprise and then the reality. You have less control so less time to form a picture in your mind so hopefully less to be disappointed about.

I for one, am very excited to be a destination bride and I just cant get over how quickly the time is going xx
