Kool Beach Club - Food/Menu

Recommended Posts

We decided to do it on the beach there as well.  Although I would have preferred a more private beach, it was going to add 1,000 to 1,500 for the cite and transportation.  I'm hoping in November (it is low season) it won't be quite so crowded.  I don't mind people watching really, just hoping people have courtesy not to stop in front during ceremony.

We were going to have it on the pier that runs between Gran Porto and The Royal but I was getting tired of waiting on the city to okay it.  We just decided to do it on the beach at Kool. I'm a little nervous since all of those beds and palapas are out there, but hopefully it won't be too noticeable.

@ AshleyNicole - I'm so glad you liked the food! That makes me feel better.

Maria is my wedding planner as well. I can't wait to read your review and see your photos!

We're having our ceremony on the second floor terrace of Kool, which is nice because we'll be outside overlooking the beach, but I won't have to get sandy and still get to wear my heels :)

I was in the same boat re/transportation, etc. Plus, we are already paying for the bar at Kool. I didn't really see any reason to bring another venue (or more $$$!) into the cocktail hour.

That terrace view is awesome. I'm not a big fan of sand in my shoes either :) How many people are you having? Our guest list if out of control (ugh) so the beach was our only option. I've had to come to terms with the fact that I'm probably going to be wearing flats and not the pretty shoes I've been drooling over for the past year and a half. *sigh*

We are also having a large wedding, looking like it will be around 100.  I think I am going to go barefoot for the ceremony and then put on some heels for the reception since we will be on the deck where it is flat.

Sorry I haven't put any information up yet; all of the photos are on my fiance's phone and just haven't gotten them on my computer yet.  We did a tasting of the Yucatan menu.

Our wedding is by a villa we are renting in Playacar. We are having roughly 50 people.

Yes, liked it and going to get it.  We knew we didn't want to do American style and wanted to do something that incorporated local flavors and cuisine, but wasn't too far out there for those with pickier palettes.  I think it is a great choice.

  • 3 months later...

Hi everyone! I had my wedding and reception at Kool on May 28th. It was awesome. I'm going to write a full review of everything in the appropriate place but wanted to put minds at ease. We had a blast! The food was great...the little I ate. We had half grouper with an orange bell pepper sauce ( very mild and yummy!) and half fan of beef with an orporto sauce. Again, it was all good. Green beans were served with the grouper and rosemary new potatoes with the beef.  Greek salad to start was also great. We had a veggie option of half spinach lasagna and half eggplant parm. It was fine. The tomato sauce was really good. Its hard to give an honest assessment because I was partial to the beautiful presentation of the meat entree. That being said, I heard no complaints and plates were clean.

For cocktail hour we did chips and salsa and caprese skewers. Both passed. The waiters were just awesome. I met Flor at a  vendor meeting my WONDERFUL wedding planners (Gelena and Luisa with Weddings Riviera Maya) set up. Flor was direct, professional, and really set my mind at ease.

One thing I forgot to mention - if you are having the full bar/sparkling white wine option, specify that you don't want Moscato/anything sweet. I didn't and I was stuck with a drink that I hate. This wasn't Kool's fault since I didn't ask what they served. Just a heads up if you don't like the sweet stuff.

I'm working on my full review of the entire weekend but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!
