I had to make my own invitations and am glad I did!

Recommended Posts

Trying to find invitations that were the colors I needed, the designs I liked and the bling I wanted, I figured out my invitations would need to be custom designed.  After getting quotes anywhere from $750- $1400 for invitations (50 total) and hardly liking what looked like someone made it in 2 min... I decided to make my own.

I purchased the Pockets through a vendor for $120.  (Gold and Bronze paisley pattern)

I purchased 2 ribbons (matching the colors of my accent colors), tied a bow and added a jewel brand to the middle.  Approximately $20.

I ordered the actual invitation card, "additional" card, envelopes, response card/envelope from MyGatsby.com at a discount for $110.

I mounted the invitation, added the swarovski crystals that I bought at Myfusionbeads.com ($70) and hand wrote every invitation.  I spent $375 dollars for 50 invitations ($7.50 each finished invitation) and it took about 15-18 hours of my time.  I saved us so much money and am really proud of them!  I know they're not everyone's taste, but they certainly go with my ornate taste (fiance calls it gawdy, lol).

I just wanted to encourage you girls that are still worrying over the cost of invitations and disappointed by what you get for your dollar- that you can do them very affordably and to your taste with a little imagination.  : )

They've been mailed!  Woohoo!

Thank you so much for your feedback!  It was actually really fun for me to do, some parts were tedious, but overall I enjoyed it!  The jewels are my favorite part too. smile123.gif
