Sun-Thurs discount

Recommended Posts

I'm having my wedding on a Thursday night rather then on a Fri/Sat, because I thought that there was a discount associated with it. The discount we received was only on the food and beverage minimum.

The minimum on a Saturday is $6,000.

15% off for Friday

30% off for Sun-Thursday

So I assumed with the 30% off there would be a discount on the price of food as well. As it turns out there isn't, its just on the minimum. I could've just had the wedding on a Saturday because I'm going to end up spending that much on food as it is.

I could've had the wedding at home on a Saturday at $65 a plate or on a Friday at $55 a plate.

Am I wrong for thinking that the food would've been discounted as well?

I don't know from experience, but from what I've seen- most reception facilities discount the price of the rental facilities for having non-Saturday night events. Every place I've looked at does, anyway...

Have you tried negotiating with them to get discounts or freebies thrown in? Also, are you using a wedding coordinator? Most facilities will be more generous when someone is using a WC, because they want the repeat business a WC can bring them...

I would say you'd only get a discount on facilities. Obviously each resort can make their own rules... but food typically costs the same, as does the help who makes and serves the food. People don't typically get paid less on weekdays (unless weekends are overtime).

They discount facilities because making some money is better than no money.

I agree, it'll be nice to have her full attention. :) I haven't heard of discounts on food either, as mentioned, because the food and service will always cost the same for them. I would have never thought of a Sun-Thurs discount though, smart thinking!
