Gran Bahia Principe Tulum - May 2011

Hello everybody,

 

I've been reading many threads and it's such a great help! I thought that I would start a page of my own!  Anybody else out there getting married at the Tulum site in May? I've been speaking to Karla but any advice from past and present brides would be greatly appreciated!

 

Right now, we've chosen to get married on the Tulum Beach.  We're also going to have the private poolside reception.  I don't know too much information about this reception.  Has anybody had experience with this?

 

What did you girls do about DJ's? Did most opt for ipod/speakers or did you hire the resort DJ?

I'm getting married at Gran Bahia Principe Tulum on June 11, 2011 at the gazebo.  I'm really excited!  Jazmin is my wedding coordinator.  We are planning to have dinner at Gran Tortuga (brazilian style), then we're having a poolside cocktail reception for 3 hours.  I booked DJ Julian from Mood Event Services [email protected] .  I think there might be a fee from the hotel for bringing in an outside vendor ($90 is what I heard from others), but I think it's gonna be worth it.  The resort DJ may be good, but I haven't been able to get any information about how many songs they may have in their collection or how good their sound equipment is.  So I'm going with Mood Event Services because they always answer my questions quickly and provide all the details I need to assure me that they're gonna do a great job.  Mood Event services has over 60,000 songs in their collection and they are always updating their sound equipment to make sure it is the best.  DJ Julian used to be the DJ at Senor Frogs in Cancun in addition to being a DJ at weddings, so he has a lot of good experience.  I met with him in person a couple of weeks ago, because he happened to be traveling to Houston where I live.  He is fluent in English, which is good for me and he's from Mexico so obviously he's fluent in Spanish.  My fiance is Mexican, so it's good for me that this DJ speaks both languages.  He's going to make the announcements in English and Spanish for us.

hi, i'm getting married in august at the tulum hotel and was wondering if you ended up having your poolside reception, if so, do you mind me asking how much? i just feel that their prices are rediculous....
