Honoring those that have passed away

Recommended Posts

10 years old?!? wow. what an amazing guy you are marrying! I was 23 and overwhelmed taking care of him, I can't even imagine.

The lapel pin is so beautiful, and the watch idea is just precious. He is lucky to have such a thoughtful fiancee!

Hello ladies I am crying as I am typing this because I lost my dad suddenly in 2008 and I was a daddy's girl and it has been so hard to accept the fact that he is not here. Everyone knows how much my dad meant to me. I posted my engagement story on here and if you read it the morning my FI was going to propose he took the video camera and went to the cemetery he placed the video camera on top of my dad's stone, got down and asked my dad for permission to marry me!! It was awesome. I felt so good to know that my dad was still involved in some way:) But as for the wedding itself I am having a hard time deciding how to honor him. My dad not being here is a very sensitive topic for me and my siblings I don't want everyone crying and making my wedding a sad day...My mom will walk me down the aisle and I am going to have a picture frame charm of him on my bouquet so that he will be walking me down the aisle too....but other then that I really don't think I nor my family will be able to handle much else....

I'm sorry for the loss but I'm sure that your Dad is happy for you. I really like the engagement story. Your FI is very respectful person, it's really awesome. I'm hoping you the best on your wedding day despite the absence of your dad. Just think of it, he's watching over you. Good luck on your wedding day!

OMG I love this idea!!! I too lost my dad 2 years ago and have really been struggling with him not being there.  I was trying to come up with something to do but everything I can think of just makes me cry and I know it will make it sooo hard for me on the wedding day to have something so visual.  I wish I found this earlier cause we leave next weekend :(  Wish you all the best of luck and you know he will be right there with you in spirit

I have racked my brain for ways to honor him in our ceremony. One of the things I am doing is something like this...

Found this on etsy and I think it is perfect for inside his lapel.  I am also having his dad's watch fixed (doesn't work) so he can wear it that day...

I totally teared up when I saw the lapel!  What a great idea!

My FI's mother passed away several years ago and they were very close. We haven't talked much about how to incoporate her memory into our wedding since it's hard for him to talk about it, however I've been thinking since we got engaged "how can I involve his mom?"  I'm thinking maybe getting him a lapel as a wedding gift the morning of and he can wear it next to his boutinerre.  I know it will mean more to him than anything else in the world.

I also love the idea about reserving a seat.  Thanks for all the great ideas girls!
