I am getting married in november of this year. We book Lesie from Perfect Weddings this just happened so I haven't had much back and forth with her yet. We already booked Blue Glass photography has anyone used them or heard anything about them. I am kinda nervous about this. We are also deciding from Lindquist Beach or Blue Beards Beach does anyone have any suggestions ?

Hi Everyone!

Its so nice to see so many 2012 St. Thomas brides here.  I'm in the early stages of planning... I'm thinking about May or June 2012.  Has anyone been to Villa Botanica?  The pictures I've seen look amazing and I'd love to hear from someone that's been there.

Also, for the brides that have booked the Marriott, are you also using a outside WC?

Hey Flybird!

The Marriott is very very particular and won't allow any outside vendors for like flowers, photography everything so I highly doubt you can hire an outside WC for your wedding there :( But I'm not sure cause I've never directly asked about it. I got them to allow me to bring my photographer on site which they never let but I was very persistent on this! So you never know! Let me know how it goes if you ask!!

Thankks!

Thanks TaraBinki.

That makes a lot of sense.  I was thinking of having my ceremony and reception offsite, at maybe Villa Botanica for instance and potentially having a welcome dinner or day after brunch @ Marriott.  In that case, I wonder how useful a WC would be in coordinating those events at the hotel, or if I should just have them offsite.  Thank goodness our date isn't until 2012!

I am also a 2012 bride! Getting married in January. I'm working with Janelle at Island Bliss and she is FABULOUS! We are having the ceremony at Lime Tree Beach and I'm still debating our reception. I've been debating a cocktail reception at Havana Blue or a casual beach reception at Bolongo or Robert's American Grille. Kate from Havana Blue has been very responsive, but the other two, not so much. Is anyone else dealing with Bolongo or Robert's and having commuication issues? I've tried both email and leaving messages.

Hi ladies!!  I'm also a St. Thomas bride.  Oct 6th 2012 is the date!  My fiance and I plan on putting a deposit down soon even though it seems so far in advance.  We're most likely going to use Marriott Frenchman's reef.  We were there on V-day last month as a part of a cruise... and he proposed right there in the gazebo!!  He'd told me to schedule a tour because he knew it was my dream wedding location.. even though we weren't engaged yet.  It was perfect!  I'm looking forward to the wedding!!  We will be having less than 20 guests and using the private room at Havana Blue for a dinner after the ceremony.  We're having a formal reception for about 120 guests at home (Atlanta, GA) when we come back from our honeymoon.  :o)

Hi Girls,

I haven't been on the board much recently, but my fiance and I are getting married on St. Thomas on May 5, 2012.  We are hosting the reception at a villa and have booked planning with Janelle@ Island Bliss and photo with Elisha Orin.

We haven't decided on a ceremony location or caterer yet, but we are going down to visit in just few weeks.  I can't wait and would be happy to help you girls if I can.  I plan to take lots and lots and lots of pictures.  :-)

We are staying at Sapphire Village and will checking out Lime Tree, Magens, Lindquist, and Pretty Klip Point @ Sapphire for possible ceremony spots.  We've also scheduled tastings with VI Desserts for the cake and Mat @ St. John Caterers for Catering.  Elisha will taking engagement photos at Lindquist so we wil be able to meet her.

@FlyBird2012 - Villa Botanica was a consideration for us too.  However, per both the Villa owners and our planner I was told that event bookings have been put on hold due to some zoning issues.  Not sure if you reached out to them yet, but hopefully this will change soon.

@Travel Bride14 - Roberts is on our short list for welcome dinner spots.  We were planning to go for dinner while we are there.  As for communication, I have had similar experience.  I emailed Roberts a week or so ago and haven't heard back yet.  I'll let you know how everything goes when I return as well.

Hey ladies!

I just got married on February 25, 2011 and I used Robert's for our welcome dinner.  And while the food was phenominal and they even set up our tables/chairs on the beach, they were terrible about communication.  In the beginning I kept calling and emailing and calling and emailing, but my WC (Janelle with Island Bliss) assured me that if they said we are booked, then we had nothing to worry about.

Now, with that said, I would be hard pressed to book my wedding reception there, but having a casual beach BBQ there was perfect.  Their prices were really low too compared to Iggys.  If anyone has any questions about what we got for the price, message me and I'll give that to you!

I used Villa Botanica, VI Desserts, Elisha Orin, Passion Fruit Catering and Sugar and Spice Artistry.  If anyone wants to know any specifics about any of them feel free to PM me :)

Hi Ladies,

We are currently planning our August 6, 2011 wedding in St John, however, we'll be using several St Thomas vendors.  Janelle @ Island Bliss is our planner, and she has been great so far.  We're also using DJ Snow and Blueglass photography.

MoeMarx:  I would love to hear what you guys think of the cakes you try!  We aren't going to be getting back down there before the wedding so we'll just have to cross our fingers!  I don't know if we'll use a bakery in STT or STJ yet.

amys325:  Did you ship any boxes down to Janelle in advance?  I am a little worried about how much that is going to cost....

Oh also- a tip for everyone:  I live in Atlanta and saw that there is a local USVI tourism board here, so I got in touch with them via email to see if they might have some maps of the islands available.  Well, she sent me a box full of USVI t-shirts, bottle openers, luggage tags and maps!!  So, these are all going in our welcome bag!!

@Kim - Thanks for the tourism link.  I"ll have to send them an email as well.  I'll definitely let you know about the cake when I get back.  VI Desserts does not have a shop, but if you request particular flavors she will make samples for you to pick up.  We requested white almond cake with hazelnut cream filling and chocolate ganache, as well as the red velvet with mascarpone filling and vanilla buttercream frosting.    YUMMMM :-)
