Hi Nikadawn,

Is your alterations included in the purchase of your dress? Maybe you could take your dress to a reputable seamstress instead who can do it earlier if you're super worried.

So the bridal shop called yesterday to tell me it was in and when would I like to come for my first fitting? I suggested next Friday and then they told me that their seamstress is booked until the first week of December so I can't come til the fourth. evil.gif Here's hoping I don't need much in the way of alterations as that's 6 weeks before the wedding and there's two holidays in between! What was the point of the rush order? Okay I've ranted... thanks for listening ;)

They are fun, and great for New Year's/Halloween parties too.  Cheap  booze, and silent auctions - and the grand prize is usually something worth quite a bit! Last one i went to before I moved I won a $400 Norwex cleaning basket.

Alberta is going good.  We ended up buying a house in Leduc (where the Airport is, as my FI works there).  Seems like a nice little town! I need to find some friends though, I've just been moving and locked in my office doing my thesis, it's getting lonely.  Thank god for the internet so I can keep in touch with my friends from Winnipeg.

Also - I'm getting married in 2 months today.  Aaaaack!

I had an ordering party and got a bunch of stuff from Vista Print, I ordered my shoes, cake topper, OOT bags, mugs, lanyards and started some of the DIY stuff. Once all that comes in, I can make a pile and see what I have!

I ordered Nina Hilaria shoes (after an epic quest for cute green shoes I could actually wear on the beach, since our ceremony and reception are both on sand, I had to forgo the pretty heels).

I ordered my cake toppers

I think that's all! Eek, going to be a busy two months.

I ended up buying them from Shoebuy.com.  They are available on a bunch of different sites, so I calculated them all to see which would be less with shipping to Canada.

Canada post has their handy quote thingy, and also found this one was the cheapest. I found a coupon for 20% off, so it ended up being about $50 shipped, hopefully not much for duty (I'm expecting no more than $10?)

They had all kind of colours!

Purple, yellow, blue, white - http://ninashoes.com/hilaria-ivory--14204?gclid=CM6D1cSts6wCFYbrKgodinIXIw

There was a similar style that came in white, blush and grey with slightly different rosettes.

I can let you know what my total is when I get them in! I figured after all my seaching, its worth it!

hey Nika,

That's nothing! So let me tell you what happened to me. I bought my dress from a very reputable bridal store in NYC, ( hint: they have a TV show) last december during a trunk show. The dress is my dream dress but at that time the designer himself and I added an attachment to make it my real dream dress. They them said my dress would be ready about 2 months before my wedding date for a first fitting. Well it was and even earlier , was ready by october. However i decided to wait till november 5th. Well let me tell you what happened on the day of dress fitting I was all excited to see my beautiful dress as it had been 11 months since i last saw it  , so just as they unzipped it from it's bag, there it was my dress, completely stripped!!! Missing every single pearl/swarovski crytal on it! it was plain which was so NOT what I had ordered. Then the seamstress tells me thats what the order said!! Who ever made my dress read the order backwards so instead of the extra attachment (which was also missing) they made the dress completely PLAIN!!! AHHHH u could imagine how i felt, as panic grew over me. Then they tell me they hope to have the design all ready by my wedding.,( as they would have to get the extra/missing pieces from the designer who is home-based in another country!) .  Well by mid-way through the fitting ( Yes i got fitted on this plain dress) they finally found all the embellishments and the extra attachment ( which somehow got detached from dress in their backrooms) . i shed a few tears but was so happy to hear that my dress should be perfect by the second dress fitting which is now next week , and that even if I have to have 10 more fittings its no problem as it is already included in the alteration price i paid ( a very hefty price) ....so it wasnt until about an hour later after I left that the shock finally left me...I mean hey time is ticking and I dont even have a hair comb or jewelry...basically because I am waiting to see finished dress in order to match perfectly.

Now that was scary...but I will say the bridal shop themselves does have a great reputation and I did love the way they handled the situation very quickly , making many calls, owner even came to see me. And they resolved everything perfectly. I will also say anyone thinking of buying their dress here who lives close or in NY area, you will not regret going there, it is a great experience and you WILL walk out with your dream dress...

anyhow, dont worry Nika all will be good I'm sure.

So how is everyone's planning coming along these days?

Mine is going well, all I have to do is a few more DIY projects then I think I'm all done!

I did get some bad news the other day that my brother likely wont make it to the wedding as it is the busiest time of year for him right now at work and its impossible to get away as he has a major presentation either the day before or after my wedding. So unless by some grace of god the dates get moved the week before then he wont be able to come. We will likely know by the end of the week. I am quite upset about this as my FI and I have become very close with him over the past few years and I was really looking forward to having him in the wedding party and part of our special day. I knew from the beginning that this was a very busy time for him and that he would only be able to fly down for a few days and not stay the whole week but I never thought he would miss it or I would have chosen a different month for my wedding.

I guess all I can do is just wait to get the final word and remember that things always happen for a reason and just stay positive.

Anyways, other than that, FI and I have started some pretty extreme dieting and work outs for the 2 months leading up to the wedding. We started a 90 day challenge with Visalus for our nutrition aspect, it is 2 meal replacement shakes a day for breakfast and lunch then 2-3 healthy snacks and a normal well-balanced supper. Then yesterday I ordered the Insanity DVD workouts that are supposed to be absolutely crazy (hence the name), there's a thread on here about it if you want to read more: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/71635/the-official-insanity-support-thread/220#post_1696807

It's a 60 day challenge where you workout 6 days a week, for the first month it's 40 min then the second is an hour a day. It's created by the same ppl who made P90X although this is more cardio and plyometrics based.
I am hoping with these two challenges combined I see some really great results! Good luck to all of you out there who are trying to lose some pounds before the big day in a couple months!

OK, yesterday I had one of those panic days. I finally started the actul planning process with our planner and have been looking at lots of past wedding photos from LC and photos from friends weddings this summer and all of a sudden I started getting really emotional and wondering if I was making the right decisions.... (not about fiance, I know he's my other half), but about everything else, like... is that really suppose to be the dress I wear, should I have chose those colors, do I really like this or that. It was insane!!! I truly felt like I was going to lose my mind until friends of ours came over, who are in our wedding party, to try on suits and dresses for me to see them together. I did feel a lot better after talking to my girl friend about it. She just got married in July and totally reassured me of everything and she was also in a destination wedding last March also so she gave me the run down of that wedding and what they wore and all. I have to say I feel a lot better today I'm going to try and finish up some my DIY projects so I can focus on the holidays soon the our wedding social. I'm so glad for friends and this site just for having a place to talk about this so I don't drive me fiance totally nuts!!!! LOL Well enough with the heavy, we're all getting very close to our dates ladies.... is everyone else getting ready, ready or freaking out yet????
