So far we are at 28 adults and 3 children, our RSVPs are due Sept. 1st so waiting to see how many more replies and "bookers" we get. I've been working on some DIY projects a little bit this weekend, trying to get some of that stuff on the go before things start to get crazy and I run out of time. I guess the next step of planning for me is waiting to hear from the wedding planner to start picking stuff and finalizing details. Yay for some planning!!! Hope everyone else's summer has been going good and planning as well.

I am a very new January 2012 Bride! Just got engaged a few weeks ago...a little intimidated with everyone who has had so much more time to plan! Just booked St James in Antigua with our TA, guests are booking as we speak! A little overwhelmed with how much I need to do - I'm thinking since I just sent an email for people to put down the deposit and get started the actual invitation would go to those who are confirmed and be a little package of info for the resort? Or is that wrong - should everyone get an invite?

Congrats on your recent engagement!!

This is definately personal preference.  We sent out STDs about a year in advance and from there everyone who was coming already booked so we didn't send out invitations.  I guess if you think spending the money on invitations is worth it and more people will book then go for it.  For us it was just an extra expense we didn't need as everyone who said they were coming already booked.

Welcome Jennj!!! I think that would be fine, it could be like an invitation/info package like you said, but more so info for people who have already booked. If I was planning my wedding that quickly I would probably do the same thing. JayKay is so right, it is an added expense to send them out to everyone if you have already "e-vited" or let everyone know. The way I think too is that destination weddings... there is no right or wrong, it is whatever you want it to be!!!! Have fun planning and we're here to help support each other and listen when we need to vent jiggy.gif

Thanks for the advice! I think I'm going to skip the actual invites but get working on a passport style itinerary/resort info to put in the OOT Bags. May try to deliver/mail the OOT bags prior to the wedding - any thoughts on that? Would probably cost about the same as having them shipped to the resort I would think - I can personally deliver most of them.

We are only have 16 guests and we didn't put a ton of stuff in the OOT bags so we are planning on taking the stuff with us and giving it to our guests down in Jamaica.  However, we are going to send out a pre travel brochure probably a month in advance for our guests.

Hi Jennyi,

Congratulations! Although we booked our date a few months ago, we did exactly what you did. We sent out an invitation email style and set up our wedding web site with info about the resort and referred out guests to refer to that. What we are going to do now is, we don't have a lot of guests 12-15 so we are ordering invitations online that we are putting together with pocket folders. We are going to insert info about everyone's arrivals, transportation to hotel from airport and info about our welcome breakfast as we arrive late at night. I am also including 2 personalized clear luggage tags in each invitation. The invitations aren't costing much. But if you are having 20-30 guests, I would just send an information brochure, there are lots of templates on here in the DIY section.

Good luck! Remember, the resort will take care of most of the details, try not to plan too much...that's why most of us brides chose a destination wedding in the first place, right?

Hey Lizzdee!

Another suggestion for you and is barefoot jewelry! I wore it for my own wedding and so did my bridesmaids! They went perfectly and are wearable on your honeymoon and vacations for life! As much as I loved the shoes I wore for my reception, my barefoot jewels were so great for the ceremony (and the honeymoon!)

Here are some pics from my own wedding and some recent custom barefoot jewels that have been ordered by brides for themselves and their bridesmaids as gifts! Feel free to email me with any questions to [email protected]. Thanks!
