I am wondering if other brides have sent out announcements post DW to guests who couldn't attend/distant relatives and family friends who weren't invited.  If so, when did you send them and how did you word it? I don't want it to seem like we are fishing for gifts or anything.  We are wanting to send out wedding announcements that include a photo from our professional photographer, but they won't be ready until January and we were married Dec 1.  Is that too long?  Also should we send them to our guests too, along with their thank you cards maybe?  HELP!!

Thanks!!!

I'd probably send them to guests AND to those who didn't attend. I don't think a month after is too long at all. you'll be married for your whole life hopefully, so a month isn't bad. Especially with the holidays, at least your cards won't get lost in the jumble of christmas cards! And as long as you don't put your registry info on the announcement it hopefully won't look like you're fishing for presents. :-)

post them up when you have a final version :-)

We will be sending out announcements once we return. However we are hosting a small cocktail reception at home. We also don't want gifts, and have somehow added that statement into all of our items (save the date, invitation -on the RSVP, pre-travel brochure). I don't think waiting a month is too long. It might actually be better to wait, then people may also feel like it is more of an announcement, and think it's past gift giving time! Good luck.

We are planning on sending our wedding annoucements when we get back also.  Etiquette says you should send them the day after you are married, but I could care less about etiquette.  I plan on sending them once we get our professional pictures back.  I just plan on making a collage in kodakgallery.com and saying "Tiante and Christel are now Mr. and Mrs.  January 11, 2011".  We don't want gifts, but we want to let everyone know we are married.

Yeah, it would be hard to send them the day after you get married if you are still in your destination wedding location!! We are then going off to the DR for our honeymoon, so I'm sure we won't get to them for awhile after the wedding and I'm ok with that! I'm sure theyll appreciate a nice picture of you guys from your wedding anyway.

I totally didn't even think about the announcements getting caught up in the Christmas mail, so thank you for that warning! We decided that since we haven't followed any traditions yet, why start now!!  Also, since I first posted my question we have received at least 5 more cards or gifts so it was good to wait so we can thank them all specifically for what they sent us.

I have ordered personalized thank you cards through vistaprint and I should be getting my pro photos any day now, so it won't be too long until I get the thank yous and announcements in the mail.  I will post a picture when I finish them!  I think Ur's will say something similar to our invites "we took flight for a much needed vacation and tied the knot in a tropical location!"  with our names and wedding date below.  Any one have any other nice wording?
