Hello Ladies

I am new to the site and I have a few ?'s...there are over 300 pages to this forum so I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to get these answered or what your opinion might be to all or even just one of my ?s..Thanks!

I am getting married on the Beach at Moon Palace 5pm May 6, 2012. I had my first phone meeting w Beatrice today who seemed wonderful.

So you know my vibe.... on my wedding...priority--Fun reception...dancing, get down have fun, good food and elegant looking reception. Also amazing photographer.  This is where I want to spend money.

 1.   It sounds like I HAVE to use their DJ...you can not bring someone of your choice...has anyone heard differently on this...cuz i wanted DJ Doremax. Also the resort has a light up dance floor...has anyone tried this? Any reviews on Moon's DJ?    Dancing/fun reception is at the top of my list for priority

 2.    Has anyone used a Jazz Trio for your ceremony? How was it? We are doing the Complimentary package but want to upgrade on just the music.

3.    We are looking at 25-30 guests...thinking cocktail hr on beach and then reception at Venado Terace...you can still see beach and seems smaller for a more intimate setting AND closer to our beach ceremony...any other suggestions on this?

4.    Also we have to have a buffet(I wanted seated dinner but can't outdoors) any recommendations. I wanted steak dinner and something nice a elegant but I don't see it on the menu. Any other suggestions of Amazing food from their buffet menu. I read through the list twice and nothing popped...we live in CO and Family/friends from IA and WI. We like that midwest stuff :)

5.    We want to have planned events before hand for our guests to all get together if they choose. The ?'s I have and wanted to know your feedback on:

Welcome Dinner...what time? 7-8? (When does it get dark? I don't want to pull people away from the beach/pool or activities too early) What worked for you?

Also  for WD recommendation for Dinner and Drinks somewhere fun (we are staying at the Nusic side) This is people's first night and want everyone to let loose. (this is 2 days before wedding)

Rehersal Dinner...Do we need a rehersal...i read a review that they really didn't do anything and it was only 5 minutes and didn't help out...help on this. We LOVE brazillian steakhouses and since we are all midwest people i figure this would work.  Is it hard to get 25-30 people close to each other...any recommendations on time for this.

Clubbing/Dancing.  Would you recommend the disco club they have at the hotel or is there another fun area to have our group congregate and go out at.

6.     We want to plan an outting/something fun for our whole group to do the day before the wedding...any suggestions on this. We are all late 20's early 30's and our parents are fun and cool! A lot of our guests (including us) have not been to Mexico.  Was thinking FUN...definitely

7.    Lastly, for Itinerary...any recommendations. Did you send out a little sheet in the invitation? Laminate? send it in email? I just want people to know the events before they come down so if they choose to participate they know ahead of time locations ect. I don't want people confused.  help on this would be great...this is new to me!

Thanks for your help!!! :)

Okay - So keep in mind that my 90 day mark was on 12/24/11. Obviously with the holidays, I knew that I had to be a little more patient. I ended up emailing Iliana Montenbruck who is located in Cancun and who I was referred to previously by Michelle Farinas in Miami. Iliana did respond to my email and stated that she would forward my requests to my coordinator. So imagine my surprise when I realize that I am once again dealing with Miami. It was made clear in the above copied e-mail that Ivis was made aware of my requested locations.

In the above email Ivis was attentive enough to attach the wedding package selections and upgrade options that I previously posted on this thread. Of course, I quickly responded and emailed her my wedding package selections, menu choices, etc. and scheduled a telephone call for 01/06/12 @ 10AM.

Ivis did respond to my email, and true to her word, called me at the designated time. She confirmed the decoration and food choices I had selected, as well as the photography package upgrade, however, she could not confirm the requested event locations because she had to wait to hear back from her on-site team. (Still ?) She told me she would send me what sounded like an updated contract, which would include my locations and upgraded items by Monday - (01/09). Unfortunately - no new contract was received. I emailed her on Wednesday and she did respond, apologizing and telling me that she was bombarded with emails and that she still did not have a definite answer for me regarding the locations. I emailed her today, 01/13/12, as it has been a full week since her and I talked on the phone, and 10 days since I received her initial email, yet never heard a response.

Ivis couldn't be more kind on the phone, but at this point with 10 weeks until the wedding and only 71 days to go, I want final confirmation on my locations. I would like to start working on the Welcome Letters for the OOTs and definitely want to include the locations of the events. I honestly haven't gotten "ugly or pushy" yet, but if I don't hear back by Monday, I may have to take it up a notch.

I know that my "wedding sister", ChipmunkRN had a scheduled phone call with Ivis today, so hopefully she can give another opinion. Funny thing is she told me that she was told that the Caribbean Terrace was no longer available, but at this point I don't know if it's for me or for someone else.

I'm also in the process of doing a few DIY projects for the cocktail hr & wedding.  These are my absolute last 2 DIY projects.. well except for the escort cards (format done) just waiting on the final payments that people must make by Feb 3rd.

Lovely, Lovely, Lovely! As always, dear Coco you do not disappoint! 1-pray.gif  I plan on doing something similar with the help of my MOH. Probably wont get done until President's Day long weekend, though. I'll be certain to post.

This does sound like a great idea.  I'm definitely not using the resort for my bridesmaid bouquets and was thinking of going the silk flower route.  This sounds like a good idea though.  So does this mean you will be putting together your bouquets yourself at the resort?

Bottom line is in my opinion the flowers are just an added beauty that is not necessary at such an already beautiful wedding.  So to me, if this doesn't work out and we end up with no flowers I will not be upset in the least.

Too bad most of you are getting married before me, or else you could wait and see how this idea plays out for me.  I'll keep you posted.

So is this wedding planner a new thing?  Is she the replacement for Lizzie who stopped answering emails??  I'm so annoyed with not getting answers and things changing!  Did anyone figure out if we can still use the credits at the salon or not?  I'm thinking I will just argue with them when we are down there if they don't let us use them.

Hey Ladies, I'm trying to put together our playlist... I sent Janina an email (and she is usually fabulous with response time) but she totally did not understand my email LOL.  Can someone help me out?  This was my email.  Her responses are in blue.

Good morning Ms. ___________,

I believe there is an additional charge for a sound system, I think is around $300.

Below are the other answers :)

Regards

Janina

Hi Janina,

I've been watching some videos of ceremonies at Moon Palace (both in the chapel and on the beach).  It seems as though the judge/officiant has a mike and the audience can hear him very well, however when the couple says "I Do" there is no sound.

Is there a solution to this problem?

Also, I notice with music there are different locations for song change.  Please correct me if the following list is wrong:

- Prelude (guests seated) ?

- Processional (bridal party walks down the aisle) and Carriage arrives at the same time.  No the bride maids are and guests arrive first at the ceremony location and then you come in the horse drawn carriage.

- Bridal walk

- Signing documents (is 2 songs length at least)   is one song at the time you walk down the isle, I was told is really short.

- Post Ceremony song (for champange) no music

- Recessional (couple walks back to be sent off by guests) everyone including wedding couple will walk to the event location, we also have golf carts passing by the area that can take the guests and you.

Is this correct?

Hi ladies!!  I haven't been on here in WEEKS, and you all are doing some beautiful planning.  To all those of my fellow DIYers who have posted your projects - BRAVO!  Loved them all!!!

My bachelorette party in AZ was an absolute blast.  I had a girly day with my MOH and we got our blow out and style for our hair and then went to Sephora and had a full face makeover.  Loved that!  Then, we painted our nails and the girls came over to her house.  All took a taxi to a great sushi place in downtown Scottsdale that is also a bar/club at night.  Then, we went to one of my favorite clubs there and danced for like 4 hours straight!!  No drama, all fun, and the girls were totally into it for a good time.  They said it was the best bachelorette party they'd been to!

Bridal shower was fantastic as well!  My girls and Mom did a fabulous job planning.  The theme was Mexican Christmas (since it was on Dec 28), and we had Mexican food, decorations, and they even made me wear a decorated sombrero, LOL!  Fun games, great gifts, it was fantastic.

And - dun, dun, dun, DUN!  We got married at the courthouse on the 27th!!  We still occasionally joke and put in the "wife" or "husband" word to each other and then say, "Shhhhh!"  Since it's a secret.  And we don't want to take away from our big day in Mexico!  But that was really special.  My Granny, who is 90 and definitely could not travel to Cancun, was there and it was wonderful.  I'll always have her signature on our marriage certificate!  And Gran and I went out to one of my favorite restaurants to celebrate afterwards (Casey had to go straight to the airport to fly back home for work).

YAY!!!   thewave.gif

All that said, I've still been DIYing my tooshie off and will post more projects soon.  For now, I'll post some pics of the FABULOUSLY STUNNING jewelry that Chelsea from Red-I made me that I adore to pieces!!!  I had my 2nd fitting for my dress today (will post these pics, too), and the jewelry matches perfectly!!  To anyone wondering what jewelry they will wear on their wedding day, or if you're thinking of buying your bridesmaids their jewelry for a gift, I can't recommend Chelsea enough.  She's been the most enjoyable part of this whole wedding process for me!  Professional, extremely savvy with her work, and a joy to work with!  Thanks, Chelsea!  <3

Enjoy!  Will post more pics soon.  :)   Only 35 more days until the Big Day for me!!!

My earrings, bracelet, and foot jewelry are on the left.  The three foot jewelry sets on the right are gifts for my girls. :)

So these are my accessories for the wedding!  (Chelsea didn't make my hairpiece.)

Back of my dress bussled up - the train is 6 feet.  May post a pic of this after my next fitting. :)  Will have to cut the cords of the corset the day of!
