Ipod Wedding

Thanks for the app info, will definitely take it into consideration when compiling everything.  We have a small guest count (~25) and are either going to bring my Logitech speakers or use the resort's sound system.

I am planning on using my ipod also, but sucked it up and will pay the $350 for the hook up that the hotel offers. I will say, that I was relieved with my decision after I read someone's post about what they would do again, and wouldn't do. She recommended paying for the hook up because her speakers sound didn't carry as well as she thought. Just something to consider...

My fiance and I are also thinking of using our IPOD for our ceremony and reception, because we already have extensive playlists. We're thinking of renting the sound system equipment from a DJ company in Jamaica, so we don't have to carry all of this on our trip. We're still doing research, but equipment rental ranges from $200 - $300 including set-up. It would great to get some current feedback from recently married brides how their IPOD reception turned out.

We planned on an iPod wedding, but never had the time to put together a playlist. We were also planning on just using a Bose sound docking station. At the last minute we decided to pay the $250 for upgraded speakers and a technician. He actually just put together a playlist from the songs on our laptop. The only problem we had was when he played a "dirty" version of one song and I had to run over and skip to the next song. He did a really good job of picking great dancing songs, but we probably should have picked a few more must plays. We did give him a list of the first dance and cake cutting songs though. Definitely worth the money. You could hear the music in the next section of the resort.

We did an iPod playlist (one list for fast songs, one list for slow songs, and one list for "special" songs, ie first dance, mom/son, father/daughter, cake cutting) and the coordinator ended up setting up the speaker for us even though we had brought our own dock.  The resort went above and beyond our expectations, throwing in extras everywhere (not sure if that should be expected, but they were amazing surprises). I think our dock would have worked out well, but it was nice not to have to worry about the volume level. We didn't do much dancing, but with such a small group, it didn't matter and everyone had a wonderful time.

We had an ipod wedding with great success! We rented the resort's stereo system ($250) mostly because it came with a microphone(which we used for speeches) and so we wouldn't have to worry about packing a docking station that may or may not have been loud enough.  For the difference in price compared to a DJ, I can't understand why you wouldn't use your ipod! Now whenever songs from our reception play on my ipod, it brings back the best memories! :)

I know...the price difference is crazy. So glad to hear that your IPOD wedding went well!

We are definitely using an ipod for our reception!  We will have a harpist for the ceremony.  I need to check out the app for sure!  Our biggest reason for the IPOD is that we DONT want cheesy music, and want music that we (and our guests) enjoy!

For anyone else that is using an ipod at their wedding, I found out about this amazing app from itunes,  from one of my fav blogs: DIY Bride:  http://www.diybride.com/archives/6125. It is called My Wedding DJ and it does amazing things. I am definitely using it for our wedding. I haven't purchased it as yet because I'm thinking, since the wedding isn't until next August, they may just have an updated version before then, so I will wait about a couple of months before the wedding before purchasing and uploading my playlists.  I'm beginning to love the ipod idea more and more because of this.  And now that I have a brand new ipod touch courtesy of the FH (engagement present), Im definitely ready for my ipod wedding!

Is anyone else having an ipod wedding or thinking about it? If not, what are your thoughts about it?
