2011 & 2012 PLAYACAR PALACE BRIDES!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

My husband and I were married on May 10th and stayed at Playacar Palace. We received an ocean view room, nightly treats and turndown service all without using your credits to upgrade. A spectacular photo package which is worth over $500 was also included because of the membership. Our photographer Ana and her partner (I feel awful I can't remember his name) were phenomenal! Get the Trash the Dress session and video even if you hate the pricing, they were amazing and so much fun for my husband (and me too!).

Although it is sometimes a hassle to deal with the initial planning, once you get there the wedding planners are fabulous (ours was Wilma) and make every dream come true. Lynn helped me deal with any problems we had in the planning stages and was a HUGE help! One of the most memorable moments we had was when I really wanted to have a candlelight dinner on the beach after the ceremony because it was just the two of us. I was really disappointed when at the last minute they told us they did not offer it that night. The staff noticed my disappointment and put together the ultimate candlelight dinner underneath our marriage huppa. They lit the table with purple lights, stones, and flowers. We had three servers waiting table-side to pour our champagne and take dishes. They brought out wonderful filet mignon and lobster and finished with our wedding cake. It was the most amazing dinner ever and I could not believe that they did that for us on such short notice. This dinner is normally done with 10-20 other couples so it was very personal and romantic. I imagine that the service is just as fantastic at Moon Palace.

Hola Playacar brides!  I'm new to this site and set to get married in Nov 2012 at Playacar...can't wait!  How did you get in touch with a wedding coordinator?  When i first signed the contract, I was initially set up with a coordinator based out of Miami but I emailed her the other day and got an "out of office" reply saying her email is no longer valid and someone is supposed to contact me directly from the resort.  they gave me an email address to follow up, which i emailed but haven't heard back.  Any suggestions on how to get in touch with a coordinator?

Hola Playacar brides!  I'm set to get married at Playacar in November...can't wait!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get in touch with an onsite wedding coordinator?  When I first signed the contract, I was assigned to a coordinator from their Miami office but I email her the other day and got an "out of office" reply saying the address is no longer valid and someone will be in contact with me from the resort.  They gave me a general email address to follow up but I haven't heard back?  Any suggestions/advise?

Hey TeamChubs..

I am getting Married at Playacar Palace Nov 2nd!! Just tried to log in to the website Palace gave me to have guests book and all rooms are booked my weekend...AH!! have you had this issue? Do they block off rooms for you?

I have emailed our travel agent...freaking out..she said she "assumes" rooms are blocked for us...wondering if you have had issues with availability? Thanks :)

oh also to answer your questions, i just got my coordinator the other day. So you may be right around the corner they said around 90 days ahead of time you get one and she emailed me almost exactly 4 months ahead, now I just hope rooms arent booked up :(

Hi Genie!

Did you block your rooms directly with the resort or through a travel agent?  I'm using a TA and she said that the timeframe I'm going to be there (wedding date is Nov 12) is totally booked so we're happy we have all our rooms blocked!  So far, I haven't had any issues.  You may want to ask your TA to confirm your room block.

Ihank you for your feedback regarding the coordinator!  Is your coordinator from their Miami office or at the actual resort?  I've emailed them but haven't heard back and it's been a few days.  I got a coordinator when I first signed the contract but my guess is that she's no longer there?! Yikes!

I just emailed to ask our TA...she said she assumes that the coordinator with Palace placed blocks for us since we paid in full for 9 nights the day we went in, but we didnt pay for any room blocks seperately. I hate the word assume, doesnt make me feel confident! But shes with a huge national Travel Agency that better make good LOL!! I havent had any case of the bridezillas yet but if the rooms are booked and no where for my guests to stay, I may lose it. She did say when we booked last Nov. that there would be 9 nights at the group rate for 40 guests saved as thats how many I anticipated would RSVP out of 60?? I hope!!! So nervous right now. They are kind of slow at getting back. Palace sent us the on site coordinator her name is Dulce. She sounds awesome from the emails so far.

Your wedding is only 10 days after mine, we are there until the 8th we leave early AM. So maybe our paths will cross :) congrats!!!

Hello Ladies,

I got married last November. When I booked my wedding through my travel agent I had to block rooms for the people coming to the wedding. Once it got closer I had to put deposits down to hold rooms for people who thought they were going, then there was a date for final payments, also a day to release rooms that werent used. November seems to be a popular time so I would definately make sure you have rooms blocked. I've seen many people on the FB members page say they cant get rooms.

Thanks,

Shannon

Thanks Shannon! I am going to ask my TA if I should prepare to hold rooms with a deposit if need be to keep the block going. It says on the bottom of the Playacar wedding booking site for our wedding that rooms are held until August 30th but no one seems to be able to tell me how many (doesn't say in contract) and Palace hasnt fixed the website that has been down for 4 days...Im getting discouraged, if it wasnt for the rave reviews on here for Playacar Palace I would be more nervous. I have been so relaxed about everything and then the 4 months mark hit and I am losing my mind. I knew it would hit me at some point.. :)

Sooo thankful for BDW and all you ladies, advice and reassurance does wonders!!

Yeah, that seems a bit odd as I had to actually tell them how many rooms I wanted to block which was hard because it was a year out. Then I had a deadline where the actual people going had to have deposits in. I had to have a certain percentage of the total room deposited. Then I could still keep the rooms not spoken for. Next was releasing the extra rooms and I want to say a month or two prior to the wedding full deposits had to be paid. If it werent for my travel agent doing all this for me it could have been a nightmare. Lot's of dates to watch and keep track of. Playacar Palace was an AMAZING place to have a wedding! Everything really does come together pretty easily! Let me know if there are any other questions you have!
