2011 & 2012 PLAYACAR PALACE BRIDES!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

We're planning a wedding there for Dec. 2011!!
Because we still have some time, we haven't really gotten down to planning any details yet. Reading all these posts have been so helpful to figure out what's worth purchasing through the resort and what isn't, thanks ladies!!

The only thing I regret with this wedding is booking our travels through The Wedding Holiday. ALL CANADIAN BRIDES please be aware of this company and NEVER book anything through them. Tell your friends the same! Dealing with them once every 2 months is about all I can handle and they provide slow and terrible customer service. There is a thread titled "Anyone have a review of The Wedding Holiday?" on this site, read the whole thing...out of 4 pages I think there is only 2-3 positive reviews. I've posted about 1/100 of my rant there, and only after crying over the phone with them were we able to switch from our original resort to this resort (due to a mistake THEY made as a travel agent/wedding planner during our original booking). Reading you guys' posts here and especially by a few who have actually married here at Playacar Palace has been so reassuring. Thanks so much for everyone who has contributed!!!

Hey ladies! Just wondering if any of you that have already had your wedding or have a wedding coming up in the next couple months, have any pictures of the different bride and bridesmaids bouquets they have available through the resort. And also, if they charge extra for a custom bouquet (I may want to just send them a picture of what I want and have them try to duplicate it), how much does a custom one cost?

Hey RMBride2B! I attached the PDF they sent me with all my options for bouquets and stuff. They charge a lot for BM bouquets (over $100 each), so I highly recommend finding an outside vendor for that. I used a tiny florist in down, and another girl on here used them too. They were awesome, spoke English, delivered the flowers to the resort, and only charged me $35 a bouquet, which is MUCH better than what Palace charges. Here's what they looked like...their website is here: http://www.FloresRivieraMaya.com

Here is my bouquet from Palace:

I loved mine too, but in all honesty the outside ones held up a lot better. My bouquet completely fell apart when I threw it, so it was basically ruined after that.  Hope this helps!

Thanks girls for sharing all these info!

I'm getting married this November (2011) at Playacar Palace resort and was just getting started on setting up a website.

Thanks Tanya for letting us borrow info from your website - I browsed through all the categories and you covered everything!  This will help me so much :)

I designed my bouquet and they didnt charge me anything.  For my girls I chose their "tossing bouquet" I also designed them and they didnt charge me anything extra. I did use a local florist for my center piece flowers though and they were SOOOOOOO much cheaper.  I only used the PP for my flowers bc they were included in the comp. wedding package, and I wanted them to all match.

Hello ladies!  We are waiting to hear back on our price quote for Playacar Palace from our TA (Melissa at Beach Bum Vacations) and this thread is amazingly helpful!

My TA told me that they planners are a bit slow at responding because they are so busy but that the on-site planners day of will be all about me and have everything arranged which matches with what I'm reading here!  Luckily I'm pretty laid back about things and not too picky.

The set up with the free wedding seems to include everything that I want.  I am very happy to hear the cocktail reception can be on the beach!  And it's really good to know about the $250 for music.  I wonder if bringing your own battery operated ipod dock would be acceptable?  I can't imagine them telling you "no" and that price is just rediculous.

OK so my last post didn't show up.....trying again......

We are looking at Playacar and waiting on a quote from our TA.  This thread is very informative.  Thanks to you all for sharing ;-)

I did NOT know the legal ceremony (civil) was performed in Spanish.  I was under the impression the paperwork was just in Spanish.  Is this the only option?  What does it cost to have the info translated so that you can file here in the US?

Welcome Shan!

I've heard that too about the civil ceremony. However, you can get someone to officiate that is coming, if you do a symbolic ceremony. My uncle is a Reverend, so we were planning on having him officiate. I think you can also write your own vows if you choose the symbolic, but I want more of the traditional vows... and I don't want to look crazy if I find myself in an 'ugly cry' trying to read my part LOL!
