Cabo Azul Brides!

I asked the same question.  Apparently yes, you have to have a dance floor due to the wood floors at Javier's.  The dance floor that fits 20-40 is free, but the larger one is a (so far) non negotiable $900!  I think we will have to opt for the smaller dance floor, and if people won't all fit, they'll dance around it, right?  Crazy.

Hi, I am going to Cabo Azul in April 2011 to hopefully book a date for April 2012.  Any tips on what I should for here or questions to as?  I have been to Cabo before but never to Cabo Azul and I really love the pictures I have seen and think this will be the place that I book.

I've always worked with Georgina, and only worked with Bertha when she's been out. I'm a little nervous about wether they'll be overwhelmed covering for her.  Due to this we're getting a day of coordinator.  How's it going otherwise Lisa?  I'm in full detail mode now, making lists and instruction sheets.  I feel like I'm the most neurotic bride ever.  LOL.

I've slacked on posting here lately!  How's everything coming along?

After speaking to Georgina, we have made a few decisions.  Hopefully it will all go well:

  • Cocktail hour will be at El Patio between the beach and pool.  I changed it from the fire pit because I didn't like the idea of the guests being able to see the reception area prior to the reception!  I like the idea of having the two separate spaces.  Plus, then we can do a margarita bar and set up our guitarist more easily in that open area
  • Cake is decided -- instead of paying Jennifer Hatton a ridiculous amount to do a cake for 150 guests, we are replacing the dessert option with...  cake!  We'll cut a very small cake made by CAR right before everyone else is served their dessert/cake.  I don't think anyone will notice that it's not technically "wedding cake".  :)
  • All flowers from the ceremony and cocktail will be moved to the reception area.
  • Dance floor is no longer a problem!

I'm going to ask about late-night s'more making at the fire pit...

I am definitely still on top of my own vendors and will be confirming times with them.  I don't want to leave anything to chance.

Has anyone done a site visit?  I am dying to see more photos of the resort!!!

Good luck CAR brides!

LisaandJeff,

Georgina has been very responsive to me as well. We got rid of the signature cocktail idea becuase the cost was going to be on TOP of the bar budget. They also needed to know the specific number of cocktails... I would rather save that extra money to put towards to overall bar.

What did she say about the dancefloor?

I did a site visit last May and am happy to share my photos with you. Shoot me an email. [email protected]

Less than 90 days for us and we're getting excited!

Hi BandP2011,

Wow, that's not how I understood the signature cocktails -- I haven't heard of an extra charge, but maybe they are counting them as part of our consumption bar?  Weird that they need to know the exact number of cocktails.  That's kind of like the wine -- they need to know how many bottles we need.  If we order 20 and need 30, we're out of luck.  And, if we order 20 and only use 15, we pay for 20.  Georgina told me that wine is not part of the bar, but the way Bertha explained it made it seem like it was.  We are talking to the manager about this.

Anyway,  she said there wouldn't be a problem with the dance floor.  We could use the free one if we want, or people can just dance where they'd like.

I'd love to see your photos!  I will email you today.  Thank you!!!

By the way, once you're at 90 days, time begins to truly fly.  We are already at 50!  So exciting!

Hi all! I'm new to the forum, but NOT new to the Cabo Azul. I was there once in April 2010 for a vacay with my then-boyfriend. Once I laid eyes on the chapel, I knew that if he asked me to marry him, we'd be returning to the Cabo Azul to get hitched. We got engaged in July and booked the resort immediately for our wedding date - November 18th, 2011.
We just returned from a trip the weekend of May 5th, and it was even more spectacular than I remembered. We enjoyed a tour of the facilities, as well as a tasting of our wedding menu @ Javier's.

I didn't take a ton of pictures, but would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Here are some of the details:

# of Guests - approximately 90

Photographer: Gabriella Mohar

Dinner: Appetizer: Caesar Salad. Entree: Steak/shrimp, sea bass, spinach enchiladas. Dessert: Custom creation: hollow chocolate ball filled with chocolate mouse

Music: Mariachi band (post ceremony), Spanish guitar (Dinner - still need to source this), DJ - Brendan Fallis (NYC)

Florists: Just going through quotes now. While there, we met with Rene from Cabo Floral Studio & Adrianna from Arete Casa de las Flores.

Hair/Make-Up: Suzanne Morel

Favors: Champagne toast glasses will be on the escort table. Each glass will have a customized wine charm (www.etsy.com) with the guests' name on the front and table # on the back.

Afterparty: Pink Kitty nightclub (Cabo Azul)

Rehearsal Dinner: Still undecided, but leaning towards the Sunset Point wine & pizza lounge @ the Sunset da Mona Lisa restaurant

Let me know what I can do to help! (I may need a little help of my own as we get closer to the big day!!!)
