I do believe that 2 and 3 would be fine. Nothing is too traditional these days, but if you had someone else in mind, I would not be too worried about hurt feels or resentment. Especially from the one who bailed on you. If they bail on you then they have to respect the fact that they "may" be replaced. I have a cousin as a "back-up" because two of my BMs are trying to get pregnant. It's not a close cousin so she doesn't feel bad about being a "back-up". But my FI and I have said all along also that if the numbers are not even, that the groomsmen will just be at the "alter" with my FI and just the girls will walk down the aisle before me. Hope this was helpful :) No matter what happens your special day will still be your special day!!!
