People asking to be invited

Recommended Posts

OK so Robin and I are planning to have around 60 people at our wedding. We are inviting just a few friends each (our close ones) Well now all of a sudden a bunch of my guy friends (we were all super close for years, but kinda broke apart when everyone went off to college) are noticing on Facebook that I am getting married and are sending me "you better be inviting me" messages! So do I invite them? I feel kinda bad not inviting them since they wanna come (didnt really think theyd want to) but that being said I dont want the prices to go up a lot with adding people. SO what would you guys do?

I dont evenhave 60 friends but I do know what you are talking about. People are saying when we finally get married they better be invited.

I say follow your heart. because i would invite them before i

would invite my family. If you dont want to invite them tell them that it is just a family affair.

at least its people you were friends with, I've got people that are friends with my Mom, that I've never met that want to be invited to stuff, (my sisters shower, my shower, my wedding, etc...) I don't get it, why would someone I've never met want to come to an event for my or my sister, is it for the free meal?? Sorry, to take over your thread, this just really irked me about my moms friends!!

I think if you're trying to keep numbers down, I would nicely tell them you're just having a small wedding with family or something like that.

Just say no! If you wanted them there you would have thought to find them before they asked you. I had a few coworkers do this to me and in that case it was quite rude. At least these are/were your friends but not close enough to where you already had them on the list.

I said we're having a small, out of the country wedding for family and close friends only. They should understand...if not remind them that they found you on Facebook - not by talking to you since they don't keep in touch :o)

I have added plenty of people to the invite list b/c they asked, but so far NONE of those people have booked. I think they want t FEEL invited but probably have no intention of actually coming. Problem is, that just increases invitation costs, which are NOT cheap! I'm struggling with whether or not to send formal invites to people who say they can't go. I'd still like them to get an invite ... but have to think about the cost. I think our parents would prefer that everyone still get an invite too (at least family).

Oh god I dont have 60 friends either.lol Thats family mostly and about 10-12 friends. I just dont want to offend them, and since we arent having a DW I dont want to upset them by not inviting them to a close function/

Robin had the idea to invite them to our Buck and Doe. If they come to that then invite them to the wedding, but if they dont then dont invite them to the wedding. Does that seem really stupid? Or does it make sense?

hijacked.gif One side note .. there are some people we invited out of what we felt was purely bligation ... but since we haven't heard a peep from them since the STD's, email updates, Newsletters, etc -- which have all asked for a tenative RSVP or website response ... I might cut them from the formal invite list. Does this sound bad?
