Shipping to Mexico - please help!

Hello!  I have a question about shipping items to Mexico prior to the wedding.  I've read other reviews that recommend FedEx, and my resort recommended I ship any items a month in advance of the wedding.


So, my question is this:  Some others have said that if you ship items from Nature (ex/ seashells), they can get "stuck" in Customs.  Well I don't have seashells to send but I do have Palm Leaf Clutch Bags that will be used for the welcome bags - here is a link if you are interested:  http://www.blissweddingsmarket.com/store/000334.htm  Certainly these qualify as being from "nature" so I'm just trying to figure out the best way to get them down there.  Should I just pack an extra suitcase for them?  Or do I face the same issue with Customs if I do that?  Do I just need to plan for more time to ship because they are from Nature? 
 

Also any other tips & tricks you can offer for shipping is welcomed.
