My Anxiety is on the Up and Up

So, my mom called me yesterday in a panic, because she realized that our wedding day falls on Good Friday.  I hadn't realized that before, but I had let FI pick the date, and it doesn't bother either of us.  However, she (who isn't normally the pushy type) insisted that we change our wedding date.  And then she ultimatumed me! 

 

Thankfully for her, we're probably going to change the wedding anyway, because both FI and I are against the new TSA screening policies.  We feel that there's conclusive evidence that the x-rays do more harm than good and that the new procedures do not provide extra security.  Moreover, I do not feel comfortable forcing my guests to choose between not wanting invasive searching techniques and wanting to come celebrate our joyous day.  I think I'm asking a lot of them already to fork over the dough and go to Mexico.

 

John and I are discussing trying to take a cruise for the wedding instead.  I've got to do some more research, because I'd like to do that on Princess, but it doesn't seem like they've got any good options leaving from our area for the next year. 

 

I'm just so stressed out right now.  I feel like I'm going crazy!

We picked April 24th because it's the start of my week-long break from taking my classes online, then FMIL pointed out that it's Easter Sunday.

 

This is after changing the date from September, which we randomly picked and turns out it was FI's parents anniversary date and we felt that it would be awkward since they're divorced.

 

We have the worst luck!!!  I can't imagine what we'd end up with if we changed the date again.

We're doing the cruise wedding thing on Carnival. Our wedding will fall during Holy Week in 2012, but we'll be in port on Holy Thursday so people will be able to go to church during our time in Grand Turk. My family is pretty religious (my mother especially), so it would probably be a big deal to them to miss church on a holy day of obligation. 

 

I'm sorry you're having a stressful time with your wedding planning! I hope you guys can nail down a date soon to put your mind at ease!

Thank god you posted this!! I never even thought to check for holidays...etc. I just realized my wedding will be taking place within days of Easter Sunday! Yikes
