Beaches ~ Turks & Caicos Roll Call!

Recommended Posts

Thanks ladies for the information about the sound system.  That's a load off my mind.  My fiance' and are big music lovers and I would hate to have to bring my little portable ippd player to use for the wedding & reception and have it barely audible over other resort noise or sound like crap.  I too would be interested if they charge to use the sound system...sounds like they nickle & dime ya for everything else ; ).  I thought about Canon in D as I really like that song but you hear it at every single wedding so I might decide to go with something more tropical and less traditional.

Stella - I saw that too.  I can't remember who is next on the wedding list but I sure hope there are no weddings planned during this period.  How awful.  I wonder how bad the damage was?

Thanks for letting us know about the Brilliant virus.  I was one of the unlucky ones who got the virus from their site last time and I had to reinstall my IE as a result and lost all of my wedding planning favorite sites I had saved.....grrrr.  Not happy about all the time I spent bookmarking pages and now they are all gone.  I hope you didn't get the virus.

Stella, I was just reading some of your posts.  How many guests did you have?  I'm having 22 (including us) an I've seen mixed reviews about the WC getting reservations at restaurants. I want to have  a Welcome Dinner.  We are having an 11am ceremony with a buffet lunch--low key and then everyone has the day to relax and enjoy!

Hi,

Island is fine, some flooding in low lying areas and tree branches down etc, but no structural damage anywhere etc and more importantly no loss of life.  Airport is open, and flights are coming in and most of the island has power.  The resorts and Grace Bay area had power the whole time in most places.  Resorts and restaurants are open for business, except for Beaches which has closed for a few weeks.  There are no reports of damage there, but as in years past whenever we have any kind of storm in August or September, Beaches will shut for a few weeks after, I would check with them to keep updated if your wedding is in September as we have heard conflicting reports on their reopen date.

Our office and staff and their homes are all fine...all are feeling a bit soggy but drying out as the sun is shining again.  Everyone was unpacking boxes/computers etc yesterday and pulling down all of the hurricane shutters and starting to sort through the 3-4 days of email that has accumulated.  Andy was on the phone with West Host our server for a while again yesterday as soon as he heard about the virus again.  We had been assured the blog had been secured but we are waiting to find out what happened again.  This is the current update posted on the situation:

Weâ€ve just had a report of another virus on the blog. If you have uptodate virus software you will be fine, but if you get any messages asking to update your adobe software or such, do not click on them ! For now please be very careful – I have the web team working on this again to remove the malicious code…..thanks for your patience.

We haven't had any problems with it affecting Macs and currently only one report but we are taking it very seriously (Andy is not happy, hurricane and virus not a great combination LOL).  You can check us out on FB in the meantime if you want to see some photos.

Thanks for all of the messages and patience!  But for anyone worrying...island is open for business, water is blue and sun is shining!!!

I would also be interested if they charge for the sound system.

Sorry - I thought this would attatch to the questions about the stereo equipment/ipod dock, but it doesn't look like it did!  So to be more specific, there was no cost for speakers, ipod dock etc for the ceremony, but it was $125 per hour for the reception.  Hope that helps!
