Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

Recommended Posts

We will have around 30-35 guests.  Not sure what the max would be for the balcony.  The pictures I was sent from the resort showed at least 4 tables set up (I believe their tables fit 8-10 people) then a head table.  There was quite a bit of room and there could possibly be more tables outside of the picture area.

Tamara, I just did a search and found an entire forum on DJ Mannia. Here's the contact info  Carlos Martínez
 General Director
 Mannia Cancun-Mannia Punta Cana
www.manniapuntacana.com Some brides said they got quoted $850 for 4 hours. Here's the forum http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/53541/dj-mannia-punta-cana/30
Hey, can we can bring an outside Dj as long they are guest? If so, would it be necessary to rent the equipment from BBPD? and would Dj mannia bring the equipment, lighting, etc. I see that they do cold fire works....Would the WC Allows us to do it through the Dj?

hello

I am new to this forum, I am getting married at the Barcelo Palace Deluxe on May 3, 2013, will be a church wedding at 18:00. I am using the package strawberry.

I am very sad and angry, that I decided to make my reception on the beach and when we had coordinated almost everything, Marlene tells me that, for the hour of the reception and will be dark and I need to add the light package, which costs approximately $ 2. 000 (two thousand dollars) .... this is crazy, I can not pay this much money for only 3 hours of daylight at the beach. plus we're already paying $ 15 extra for having the reception on the beach.

Can anyone advise me on another location for the reception, I do not like the idea of having dinner in a closed room and Marlene tells me the bar higuey already booked on that date.

appreciate your advice.

xoxo
sandra!

Hello, this site has been so helpful in planning a wedding!!! Thank you everyone for sharing! Our WC, Lianny, has not been responding to me and someone else by the name of Helen responds to my emails by with 1-2 weeks delay.

We have reserved the strawberry package with the ceremony and the reception on the beach but in case of rain they will move us to the ballroom. Does anyone have any pictures of the ballroom? Are the ballrooms more like tents or complete indoor spaces? I really want to have fresh air for both events and not sure what to do in case of rain.

I would appreciate your recommendations!

As an alternative to the ballroom in case of rain, I keep hearing about something called the Palapa on the beach. Ask the WCs about that. Apparently it's a covered space near the beach but is not completely indoors. From reading on this forum, only one bride has said she used it and it's not a space typically used for receptions but they let her use it b/c it started raining during her beach reception. FYI the ballrooms are fully indoors and the only other reception space that's not is Bar Higuey. There are plenty of pictures of the ballrooms in this thread. Although I haven't seen a pic of the Palapa, the bride that used it said it was very nice.

Also I would say although there may be a few onlookers for a beach ceremony the gazebo is literally in the middle of the resort. There are a ton of people who are walking through this area to get to and from the beach and resort area. I think the garden area is probably your most private area in terms of ceremony. As you may know I dont believe the rooftop area is an option for the reception but it is an option for the cocktail hour for an additional $500. There is also an additional fee to hold the reception on the beach and keep in mind things such as the dance floor and lighting are all extras. 11:00 is wayyy to early and I would def be up in arms about being forced to do it at that time. Unless your having a catholic ceremony and this is the only time the priest is available I would opt for a 4-5 ceremony. As you mentioned what would your guests do all day long until your evening reception?

Natalie: I am also working on our pre-travel brochure and some things I included that you may want to include is that although the reservation is paid in full the resort keeps a card on file for incididentals. They DO NOT however put a hold on it, they just keep it on file. Dont forget the $10 entrance fee into DR as well contacting banking/cc companies to advise of international travel to avoid a hold on the cards. Also encourage guests to make reservations as they check in b/c they get full real quick...FYI:

Dinner reservations for the specialty restaurants can be made once guests check in. Barcelo limits the number of dinner reservations made depending on your number of nights stay.

For example:

for 6 & 7 night stay, guests are allowed 4 dinner reservations

for 5 night stay, guests are allowed 3 dinner reservations

for 4 night stay, guests are allowed 2 dinner reservations

MissJali: I know your not getting married until next year but I have to tell you airfare from NYC is outrageous, I would jump on it as soon as they go on sale. We brought a few months ago which was still about 5-6 months out and we still paid close to $600rt pp!

I just heard from Marlene (WC) and frankly am confused as to why she offered a ceremony at 11 AM. I am not sure if there are a bunch of weddings already planned for that day? It's more than 10 months away! Anyway, here is what she said:

Please be advised that we work according to our wedding agenda, note that if we do not have any other times available during those day it is impossible for us to confirm a wedding with a later time as per you mentioned below.

If you are in contact with other brides, you know that we do as well confirmed wedding according to the availability of the dates.

As right now we can put you on hold to see if we get any cancelations we may chance your ceremony time, this is not 100% sure but we can still try.

Needless to say, my fingers are crossed that I can get a better time than 11 AM. It may even be a deal breaker for me at this point.

I would love to see some of your pictures: [email protected]

Thanks, Candace

I actually read on here that WTRunner paid an extra $500 to have her actual ceremony on the rooftop lounge. She posted pictures on her Facebook account and it was beautiful! You'll have to go back in the thread to find her post in order to see the pictures.

But TRivera is right, the rooftop cannot be used for the reception because there is no food allowed. Sounds like even if you do cocktail hour there, you can only have drinks, no oer d'oeuvres. Not 100% about that but I think that's what I read.

I'm actually not sure if you can. I haven't looked into the djs yet as my wedding isn't until NEXT march. If the DJ isn't easily recognizable i can see you just paying the resort day pass instead of the vendor fee. You would have to ask your WC if this can be done as far as the fire works
