Question for you ladies...

 

Currently having my invites custom made and I haven't been able to decide how much time I should give to my guests to RSVP. I know the average time for regular weddings is usually 3 weeks to a month before, but our situations are definitely unique considering we've having a DW. 

 

I would love to know ASAP, I would say about 3 months before, just so I can get my numbers in order to prepare OOT bags and favors (as well as preparing for paying for all the extra guests!). But I'm worried about people accepting and then backing out a month before. 

 

Any suggestions?

Well I gave people 5 months. I sent the invites out in June and I have an RSVP date of November 15, 2013. A couple of people have actually sent their RSVP card back already! I'm planning for 50.

I am getting married in February and am working with a travel agent. We set up package deals and sent a flyer to guests in June. We set a tentative deadline for booking with the TA by July 12 and already got a lot of success! With a TA, guests are able to make monthly payments and takes a little money stress off of them. We are having a small wedding, but already have 28 guests committed! I wanted to give my guests the longest amount of time possible and I will be sending formal invites out probably 3 months prior, even though I already know who is coming!

 

I agree, it is definitely hard and stressful trying to pick a timeline!

My wedding is on July 2014 and I already have 61 people confirmed. They put down a room deposit so if they back out 3 months before the wedding, they loose their deposit, not me. I ordered save the date magnets and will send them soon to keep people excited about our wedding. The hotel is usually sold out for the July 4th weekend so I need to have everyone fully booked 4-6 months before my wedding. So I think if you send at least save the date's now, people will have time to plan accordingly, check out flights, straighten things out with their employer and such. It will also give you more time to budget accordingly.

I think the pre-RSVP would be a great idea. I just asked people to get an idea of how many people would attend the wedding. In my case, I invited family with children and a family member who is on a wheelchair so I needed to choose a hotel that would accommodate them. I continued to talk to people about the DW after I learned about the deposit so that when it was time to confirm, they already knew what to do.

Are any if you ladies bringing in photographers from outside? If so are you paying vendors fee or day pass? I wonder if we csn use a day pass for the photographer and videographer.

Good Question, I'm debating on Tropical Pictures (Resorts Choice) or HDC, I think it's only a day pass from what HDC told me.

 

But do we pay for their plate too?

So, I'm getting married in almost 2 months! EEEE! We just got all of our invitations for the destination wedding and AHR out yesterday, so now we wait. I feel like I should be doing more right now than just waiting. 

 

I have a few questions about some things... So the DJ, what are people doing? We were thinking of using the Ipod dock and just setting up the music in order on that. Can anyone send me an updated list of what the DJ options are?

 

Also, pictures and video, I'm so indecisive on what to do for those. I know I'm going to use TP because I have no one else who's a professional that I can bring or hire down there. I always watch people's videos on youtube and I love love loveee videos of people getting ready and the extra stuff people do with their video, but I don't know if they'll get what I want. That's why we were also going to have a girl video tape all of the girls getting ready and a guy for all of the guys getting ready.

 

How about the food... can we do buffet? I was thinking that might be the best option for people, but that also depends on how much that'll cost.

 

I just have no idea what I should be deciding or thinking about right now. Any help would be greatttt! Thanks and good luck to all the BBPD brides!!!
