Past BBPD Brides that have done symbolic weddings. We are legaling getting married before we leave but of course dont want any of our guests to know. We want it to seem as if its an actual "real" wedding.  Does the resort provide like a generic script? We are planning on doing our own vows but I am not sure if I should be scripting the entire ceremony or if the resort has a generic one that allows for us to do our own vows? And if so does anyone have it or were you given an opportunity to see/read it before the ceremony?

Bjeantil, My wedding is the day before yours, August 2nd :mswink: .  I haven't planned much yet, I plan on starting next week.  How's your planning going?
hey!!! Everything is going well so far I'm still looking for a Dj and was looking at the one that was recently recommended on here or may bring my own. I was stressing at first with communication with my WC but this site has helped a lot and not worrying anymore!!!

Hey Newbride101, sorry for the late response, it's been way too busy....

I got the allowance by calling the DR Embassy here in Montreal, they said 2 bottles per person is the wine allowance.

Normally 1L is the limit for spirits allowed into most countries and you can't bring both, it's either 1L spirits or 1.5L wine or 24 cans of beer.  They generally carry a decent selection, my worry is that we may have to mix it up depending on the quantities they have in store.  You can most probably count on them having Australian Wolf Blass Yellow Label, French Brouilly Georges Duboeuf, Italian Chianti Nippozzano and the prices should start at about 12$ and up.  Yellow Label is probably around 15$.  I won't be checking a box of wine, too risky that some bottles get broken and I don't want issues at customs in the DR saying that each person has 2 bottles that we packed into one box is just going to cause issues.  If you get your guests to pack the bottles in thier checked luggage that would be better but then again you're limiting thier suitcase weight and risking broken bottles again.  In case you haven't tried calling them here is the duty free shop number for Edmonton South Departures Lounge (After Security) Phone: 780 890 7352

I'm really sorry to hear you have the flu, it's running around here too, I've been spared so far, fingers crossed!

Bjean: In regards to the outside DJ if you go back in this thread Johanna whom got married in September of last year some how used DJ Mannia and did pay the outside vendor fee. What she said was, "The hotel did know I was bringing an outside DJ and they didn't have to stay at the resort as long as we counted them as guests. So we essentially paid for two extra plates". So I reached out to Susana because I dont want to booked DJ Mannia and pay him only to be hit with a $1300 outside vendor fee from BBPD as well. She is really pushing back on this and giving me a hard time despite the fact that they seemed to have done it for a past bride. Ugh! His prices were so much more reasonable and he has amazing reviews. I will let you know if I make any progress with this.

Please take a look to the email below , email that I send you on June 12th 2012 where I inform you that outside venders where not aloud . DJ Mania will be able to be at your wedding but due that you contract them on your own you will have to pay an extra fee of $1300usd to the hotel.

If you look back on this thread you will see many brides who used the hotel hair/makeup. Most recently TDawn who did a trial first and said they were great (she did her own makeup). If you are at the resort long enough just schedule a trial day to bring you at ease. I have heard for the make up that they do not have very much so even if you do have them do it, bring your own stuff. You can go to sephora or mac and have a trial session with them first to know what to bring or buy and even take a picture.

I also am doing trial sessions with my hair stylist at home to just get a better idea of what i actually want before i get down there.

Okay this might sound like Im a cheap-o, but I hate to waste and maybe i am a little bit of a cheap-o! BUt has anyone considered using the bridesmaid bouquets as centerpieces as well? Like after the ceremony, put the flowers in a vase on each table? I was thinking it would save money obviously, but bridesmaids just throw those things down after the ceremony anyways so why not? :) Anyone else?

Natalie, I have seen many brides do that recently. That's probably better than my own idea...I was thinking of nixing flowers altogether for my bridesmaids. I have 6 and at $30 for each bouquet from the hotel that's $200 that could go to something else!!!! Unless of course I were to make my own bouquets with natural touch flowers for them but I just don't want anyone talking crap about me using fake flowers...
