Dreams Puerto Vallarta Wedding - January 2011 - Any Advice?

Recommended Posts

The intention of this forum is to assist brides/grooms in planning their dream destination wedding.  The reason that other members are requesting you to read thru the other threads is b/c if everyone had the same attitude as you, there would be hundreds of threads to answer "their" questions.  The mods work very hard to try to keep the forum streamlined and easy to navigate.  When there are countless threads discussing the same questions, it becomes a mess.  Lauren has been around this forum for over 3 years, so she knows exactly what the intentions of the forum are, you at 7 posts may not understand that yet, but once you are around for a bit, you will see that having consolidated information is the best way to keep the forum running smoothly.  If you have questions regarding your particular resort, you should find the time to browse that thread.  If that isn't possible (135 IS alot to read!), at least post the question in the appropriate thread rather then having a new thread for just your questions.  Imagine if every bride did that?  So repetitive.

I found her comment to be quite rude and why my response came across similar. The other thread was written by countless brides over a long period of time, not one person who wrote 135+ pages so writing a couple threads takes a lot less time then reading every single page! I have used the search function to look up my answers, but couldn't find what I specifically was looking for (doesn't mean it isn't there, but short of reading every page, I haven't yet found what I was hoping for...I am working my way through a couple pages here and there) so what is it to anyone else if I start my own thread? This is totally rediculous. Please either give me some advice on the destination or don't waste your (and my) time responding with snotty comments... that is NOT the intention of this forum.

Thank you!

I don't understand what the issue is...if I want to start my own thread that is my business. No one else had to read it or respond or say anything unless they would like to (and it relates to the questions posted). Please do not respond unless it has to do with the questions ask. This is a thread I chose to start and it's up to you to respond appropriately and within the scope of the thread if you wish. If not, that's ok.

Please only comment positively on the questions if you would like. No more comments on starting my own thread. I do have this right, but you also have the right to ignore it.

Thank you (and thank you to anyone with positive advice on the questions posed)!

Definitely check out the Dreams thread (maybe start with the last page & go backward) - most of your questions are covered there extensively. I actually just posted the appetizer & menu options in the thread the other day.

You can check out my review (in my siggy) for more details, but we had a beach ceremony & reception at Las Palmas Terrace (by the smaller pool). We had the poblano soup and steak/chicken for dinner, which were both great. Can't remember off-hand what we had for appetizers, but people said they were good and I have those posted in the Dreams thread (& I think in my review).

We hired an outside photographer, but used their videographer for the ceremony (since it came with the ultimate package) & actually the video was surprisingly good.

The hair/makeup people at the spa are great!

We used the live trio during the cocktail hour & they were really good (though they play for more like 45 min)

I would suggest getting there a few days before the wedding so you can start to relax.

Some of the girls have been a little frustrated that Rebeca, the wedding coordinator, hasn't been super thorough in her answers via email, but rest assured she is very detail oriented and when you meet with her in person before the wedding you'll iron out everything.

Congrats again & let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Karen:

I'd like to say thank you for the advice and not giving me a hard time for starting my own thread. It is much appreciated. All the best to you and congrats on your wedding!smile03.gif

Okay January bride, I can see you've only been a member here for a minute so let me help you out.  ALL of us have careers and lives outside of the computer and insinuating that yours is somehow more important than ours is never the way to get help.  That's a life lesson for you, on the house.

Insulting the members who did reply by calling them pretentious isn't going to fly.

Telling people to do what you say or go away isn't going to fly.

Creating a thread to answer all the questions you have in one place instead of using the forum the way every other member uses it isn't going to fly.

That is not the intention of this forum.

I'll give you a few minutes to read this thread so you can understand why you are about to be banned.

Thank you!

I'll ask my own questions and if someone is courteous enough to answer...Great! If not, no worries. Sometimes it is best to just keep your thoughts to yourself...need I say more cool.gif??

Everyone Else...To the non-pretentious brides out there, if you ARE kind enough and have the time to answer my questions in a, so far, 1 page thread...that would be great and thank you!!!cheers.gif

Well, I have the right to CLOSE this thread. PLEASE take heed of advice from longtime members who were just trying to be helpful in the best interest of the forum. if you read something that rubs you the wrong way, remember that its often difficult to convey emotion or tone of voice when you are typing/reading instead of speaking. if you choose to participate further on bdw please do so in the correct and existing threads. if you truly have a brand new question or concern, feel free to create a new thread if the subject has nothing to do with any currently existing thread. if you have a problem with anything ive posted here, feel free to PM me.
