Groom-Zillas

My finace is 26 years old, as are his group of high school fiends and their girlfriends/fiancees.  I'm 28.  I've been through the wedding process with siblings, friends, family for awhile now.  Never, EVER, have I seen the amount of drama and wedding envy from a group of males than  my finace's friends.

Since the group of guys have girlfriends/fiancees who are not friends outside the "man circle", I truly think the drama is stemming from the other women and the men are acting like idiots to each other.  Has anyone ever had a "regular groom" (as my finace's friend calls himself) make real digs at a "destination groom" in front of the other guys?  On numerous occasions? and NOT in a joking manner?  Now that two of the four friends are engaged and planning weddings within weeks of ours, they are getting all Bride Wars on each other.

My fiance and I are very laid back and we are unique in that we don't really care what people think about tour decisoins.  However, it bothers me when his feelings get hurt since his friends are acting like groom-zillas and constantly talking about weddings.  His one friend can't go one day/night/football game without bringing up weddings and how special his wlll and how it was important for them to include everyone that wants to see them get married.

Really? Anyone else having Guy Drama?!?!

I would chalk some of this up to immaturity,  a little having to do with age but as we all know, some people are just DRAMA FILLED regardless of age...we don't have any issues, our friends know us well enough that we would distance and cut ties with ENERGY VAMPIRES... I don't know what it is when the word Wedding is spoken or when there is one planned, some people just go NUTTY... Maybe it's this guys insecurity having to constantly make comments about the wedding.  If it bothers your FH that much I would pull the friend aside and say something to him...As far as the comments about "How important it is to have everyone there" Good for them, everyone wants the same thing but as you can see on this forum alone that doesn't always happen.  You have to know from day one what's the most important to you and your FH. Who cares about what his immature friends are saying because at the end of the day it's your love for each other that got you to this point...This is a early lesson, you will unfortunately see some of this same behavior after you're married.. You both have to make a decision to be a united front and not let nonesense bother you!

P.S.  I would make an inside joke about it everytime his friend mentions it! Good luck!

Guys are so strange sometimes. They want to act all macho, but then want to nitpick over the girliest things. I'm sorry your FI is having to deal with this, it sounds like the friends are just immature. Makes me wonder why they are even getting married if it is all about the people watching them get married instead of the bride and groom. Besides, the "destination" groom gets to spend several days with his guests while the "regular" groom gets to spend maybe 5 minutes at dinner with his guests... who wins now ;-p OK, I'll stop being catty.

Ignore the nonsensical comments and strengthen your united front like Monique said. Remember what goes around comes around so take a positive spin on everything and your wedding will turn out perfect :)

PS... The guys in our wedding fought over the flip flops they were going to wear. Yep. Seriously.

Haha, fighting about the flip-flops? Too funny!

So frustrating how my FH will say he doesn't care about the details as long as I'm happy with the choices, but then out of nowhere he'll insist on having some silly random detail exactly his way. Guess guys are just weird that way..
