Noob posts - I don't always want to see them

Recommended Posts

I know there is a way to select which sub-forums you want to mark as read so they do not pop up as "new" posts and I do that at times with the Noob posts if I'm trying to skim quickly to find topics of interest.  But is there a way to not show these posts at all?  The reason I'm asking is that currently, right now, of the first 5 pages (100 posts) I counted nearly 85 which are Noob posts, all of which one person replied to.

I check the board every day during lunch and between our slow internet connection, my limited breaktime and constantly being interupted by work(!), it makes it difficult to browse new posts, especially since you can't go past 10 pages of posts.

I completely understand where you're coming from.  If one person is posting the same thing over and over again, that's actually SPAM and can result in a temp ban.  Definitely report it if you see it happening.

It's unfortunate that some people choose to not actively participate in order to reach 150 posts.  It just frustrates the rest of us.

As for your actual question, I'm sorry, I don't know the answer.

thanks Kristy.  I reported the person.  I wasn't sure if it qualified as spam or if I was just being picky! huh.gif

I feel like less of a poster sometimes because I haven't reached 150 posts yet but I do participate in the stuff I find important and I relate to.  I'm sure I'm going to insult someone...but it feels so impersonal to simply post the same thing over and over just to reach that magic number.

actually Mrs.J for us "older" members it is quite refreshing to see a noob come on and contribute to the forum in a way that is beneficial for the other members. so thank you for being here and and participating!

It is very annoying when people just post to reach their 150 simply so they can download the attachments then you never see them again!

bump.gif  All right, think this post needs a BUMP!!!!!!

I was there so I totally understand wanting to reach your 150 posts and up your "status" but as someone who truly values this forum and tries to always provided useful feedback, comments etc. I am SO SICK of seeing the "great" "love this" "pretty" "I like it" posts from the SAME user!!!!  I like seeing the most current threads as much as anyone but when I open them up just to see it is the same user writing the same or similar comments on them all it really urks me!!!!

It is also very frustrating when you are looking through threads and 5 pages of the 10+ are just "so nice" "love this" comments!!!!!

I don't want them banned as this is such a valuable resource but there has to be a better way for Noobs to learn the BDW ropes before they have at it!!!!

Sorry for the vent all just thought this deserved a BUMP maybe it'll help out a few noobs who truly don't understand the forum!!!!

welcome.gif So welcome noobs but PLEASE read the FAQs to get you up to speed on the amazing resource that is BDW, you will get great info, make some amazing friends and plan a phenomenal wedding but you don't have to post on EVERY thread you read BangHead.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
