Were you able to sample food at the hotel you got married, before signing a contract?

I'm curious to know any wedding resorts in Jamaica, if any of you past brided were able to the sample the resorts food and cake from the menu before committing and making a decision about that hotel(s)?

I'm not getting married at a hotel but I wanted to sample the cake because I am very picky about the fruit cake.  My wedding planner sent me to a place but I didn't like their cake.  They said that the wedding cake is richer than the cake that they sell in their bakery but I wasn't taking any chances so I am taking my cake from home.  It travels well.

 

As for the food it self, I figured it should be fine since it's local food.
