best destination for kids

Hi all, Just signed up to the site, was reccommended by a freind... I have the ring now, just need to start planning.

We are hopng to save/plan for a year, we have two children who will be 6 yrs (daughter) and 4 years (son) by then.

I guess I just need a place to START...obviously there are so many options out there.
We have never had a family vaction b4 or been to 'an island resort destination' b4, (well I have been to dominican republic b4 with girlfriends), so as much as this is OUR wedding, I really want it to be about the kids as my fiance and I have been together forever, 2 kids, a house etc., so the ceremony is really kinda just a formality - if that makes sense, I guess we are looking at it as more of a family vacation, with a ceremony the kids can be involved in and then a nice trip for the whole family.
Sorry I am rambling - lol....

Thanks for any help

First off welcome to the forum and congrats on your engagement. Have you thought about Beaches? They are a very family friendly resort throughout the caribbean and have a wonderful reputation. There are several Beaches brides on the forum under "The Islands" section. You should definitely check into them and perhaps even read the reviews written by brides I've never really come across any negative ones, there is tons of stuff to do, their resorts are usually big with lots of activities and there are many different locations where you can choose to get married on the property. Its also all inclusive. Good luck and happy planning!

Welcome to the forum!  As far as involving the children in the ceremony I think you can do that anywhere.  I'd imagine most all venues will allow you to customize your ceremony to your liking.  I think the main thing is finding a resort that is more kid-friendly.  Some resorts are adults only so those obviously wouldn't work but there are resorts that have kid programs and would make for more of a family fun vacation.

I'm not sure where you are and what is easy for you to get to, but check out the Dreams Resorts in Mexico.  Someone mentioned Beaches and I do believe they are family friendly as well.

The best thing to do in my opinion is search the site and check out resort/wedding reviews to get an idea of what other brides have experienced.  Also a travel agent is a great resource to help you find what suits you and get you and your guests booked, and perhaps negotiate a group rate to save you all a little money.

If you don't have a travel agent we have wonderful agents working with the forum who are experienced with destination weddings.

Welcome to the forum.  This site is great and you will find answers to any questions you may have.  A kid-friendly resort was high on my list and most of the islands have great resorts with kid's clubs and activities for children.  I plan to have my future step-son and my niece in my wedding and I found the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica.  It accommodates guests who would like to bring their kids for a mini-vacation as well as adults who want to have privacy with the Iberostar Grand Resort next door. And there even 9a more a thriftier sister property right next to the Suites (Iberostar Rose Hall Beach) on the other side.  My other criteria was affordability, all inclusive options, quick flights from the East Coast, comfortable beds, and true premium alcohol and good food.

Welcome! We are doing the exact same thing! We have a 10 and 1yr old and are making our vacation a family vacation too. We aren't really into the big resort thing (we are getting married at a villa in Sayulita, Mexico) and we wanted to be able to sit around and have drinks with family/friends after the kiddos go to bed and not have to be stuck in a hotel room or paying for a stranger to babysit every night. But if you are looking for a resort I know Dreams resorts are really family friendly. My sister is staying at the one in Nuevo Vallarta for our wedding with her 3 kids.

I'm sure you'll find all the info you need on this forum. Good luck and congrats!

I'm doing Beaches Negril, Jamaica with my children & nephews (2-18yrs)  They seem to have the most for the kids to do.. need I mention child minding is includ. in all inclusive? that sure was a bonus for me! Now we can go scuba diving while the kids are at a day camp- with adult only sections. Happy planning!
