I found "The Dress" & DIDN'T buy it. Now I have a 'nice' dress & regret buying it. What Should I do?

I guess there are differing opinions on the knock off route.  I'm in a situation where I have my wedding dress but wanted a second one without the hefty price tag that comes along with "original designer dresses".  I think depending on which vendor you use, you can have a great experience and get the dress almost exactly the same.  If you are careful in your selection of vendors, they will tell you how close they can come to the original.  For me, they can come to 95%.  For $140 dollars, 95% was good enough.   For whatever reason, some girls are very much against the Knockoff Route.  I personally have no issues whatsoever.  I suggested it as an alternative to having the very expensive original.  Not as your first dress but as a second.  I think you should do your research and make your own decision.  If you need any help with suggestions on vendors, I'd be happy to help you.  There is a massive thread on this forum on knockoff dresses but it's pretty huge to navigate through.  One of the other ladies on that thread was very gracious to help me.

Good luck and do not toruture yourself over your dress.  The one you purchased is absolutely stunning.

Dress #1 is gorgeous!!  I haven't gone dress shopping at all yet so I don't know how it feels but I can imagine.  I think you picked a great one and the fact that it was 1/3 the price means ypu get to spend that money elsewhere...like on yourself...for shoes, jewelry, massages...whatever!!!  :P

Thanks for the offer Ginger. I would love the help With a second dress option, but unfortunately I live in Ireland, so none of your vendors would be of any use to me. Guess I'll just have to research it myself over here. I think I am going to stick with the dress I have & get some other dress made for the TTD shoot. I'll just have to forget the original dress I think. Maybe if I was getting married in a castle over here, it would be perfect.....but not for a Jamaican beach wedding.

Thanks everyone

I really like dress 1 but if you really have your heart set on 2, have you looked online at some of the preowned dress sights or ebay?  I fell IN LOVE with a dress that was way out of my budget but was able to find a bride selling it on ebay.  I got the dress for less than 1/2 the original price and it's in perfect condition.  http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/ and http://www.oncewed.com/ are great places to start.

It's all done online.  I sent them the pics of the dress i wanted made because it wasn't in their online store, then asked them to change it to a sweetheard neckline and then once I got a price back of 140 dollars I ordered it.  It took a day or so but the lady I was dealing with put the dress in their online listing.  She sent me the link, I clicked on it and then simply followed the instructions.  It's like buying anything online.  You give them your measurements and height etc and they make it to fit your body.  The vendor I used is from China and they ship all over the world.

The vendor is Monica Bridal - This vendor works under DHGate.  They basically monitor all the vendors that are a member of their group.  I actually paid for my dress via my checking account.  You set up a paypal account, wait for it to be activated, takes a few minutes.  Or you can use a credit card as well.  What happens is the money does not go directly to the vendor.  It sits in this "trust account" under DHGate, until you receive your dress.  It is couriered to your door.  Once you receive it, DH Gate is notified to release the funds to the vendor.  It's all very safe and quite efficient.  I was a little apprehensive at first but I have had no issues.  Only thing is when you pay using a checking account it can take a week for DHGate to recieve the money as it's going from one country to another.  Mine took a week for sure but then the vendor is notified that the money is in the DH Gate account they start working on your dress.  Takes only a few weeks.  Two for mine.  Mine will be shipped next week.  Sounds like a lot of work but it's really not.

If you want more info pm me and I'll get you everything you need or simply do an internet search for Monica Bridal.  I'm betting it will take you right into the DH Gate realm.
