Gran Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies! We just confirmed our date 12/1/12 with the Steffany and Amaradai. Now we just have to book our trip! How's everyone else's planning coming along? Does anyone have an alternate email for the resort? All my emails have been bouncing back to me saying "database quota exceeded". Very frustrating. Have a great day :)

Hi my fiance and I are planning a wedding hopefully at Cayo for next year (2013), we are going to be a fairly large group 20-30 individuals.  I was curious about the nightlife.  We enjoy a good party and  i want to ensure that tmy guest are able to have a great time even into the wee hours.  To those who have had a wedding at Cayo, did you have any issues with this?  I understand the bars on the resort shut down at midnight and you can go to the disco at Barcardi - is it a good time there?  Can you have beach parties or parties on your balcony if there is a large enough space?

Thanks for your replies.

Hello again! Looks like we are bumping up our wedding and getting married at the end of November! I was hoping Lauren could help out and let me know which menu she chose for her wedding (after looking at the options, i am considering just having our reception dinner at the buffet!!!) I see in an earlier post that the wedding was held outside on a patio- we would like this as well- but did you have to chose from one of the set menus?

We chose from one of the set menus and they accommodated friends who had special requirements (allergies, vegetarians, etc.) with amazing dishes. One of the waiters actually made sure to point out to one of our guests what they could and couldn't eat from the desserts and kept an eye on them (coconut allergy).

What were the different options that you have and I can let you know which one we chose (I can't remember off the top of my head now)

Their email system isn't the best. We called every once in a while to make sure everything was ok, but other than the major things like getting the wedding date set, giving them your guest numbers and pick your meal, everything else gets sorted at the resort when you meet with Angela (you can change your meal at that time as well if you really want to)

Oh...just remembered. Don't get the spa package add on or anything to the base wedding price. It's less expensive to get billed separately (suggestion from Angela). She was pretty good with telling us what was worth it and not worth it to add on.

Also, just a reminder that only I believe 10 guests are covered in the base package, so you'll need to pay for the additional meals after that number (it's not much. For 45 guests total we still still did our entire wedding for less than $5k)

Hi Everyone,

I've just started looking into a wedding at CL in early January 2013. Most of the people coming are "seasoned" down south travellers so of course i'm really worried about picking a nice resort. I've already been to Samana once and the scenery and beaches are

stunning which is why i'm really leaning toward this hotel. I was curious, for anyone who was already married here, what was the transfer like from the airport to the hotel? I have a few people coming afraid of boats and i dont want this portion of the trip to ruin it for them. I've seen online its only about 5-10 minutesbut want to make sure thats true. Any comments on this portion?

Also, any comments on the food at this resort? In addition to the wedding night i would like to be able to eat together on a few other nights. Is that possible with the advance reservations? Will they reserve for groups of about 30? Online it also says unlimited a-la-carte dinners. I'm just wondering if thats also true as i'ev been to other Bahias and you were limited to 3.

I'm sure i'll have many many more questions down the road. I'm just in the process of getting prices for my top 3 hotels and this is #1!

Thanks!

So I've noticed that a majority of the people in this forum, as well as on tripadvisor are from Canada.  Anyone interested in this location from the US?  I'm having a difficulty with flights coming from the midwest.  This is my dream location, but it may be a difficult battle to convince people with 3 layovers and a ferry.  msncry.gif  Has anyone from the States been here on a direct flight to Samana?
